Perfect 10. could work as a heel or face. Even his work with the Rockers are underrated because of his solo success. Gave you great matches whether he's the opening act or main eventing at wrestle mania. Michaels could go scientific wrestling against a chris benoit/bret hart, he could fight tall wrestlers like Diesel or Razor Ramon. And still give you classics no matter who the opponent was. Gave you amazing feuds that told a true story. The undertaker, razor ramon, bret hart. Great moveset as well. could go ground or aerial attack. Ladder matches, cage matches, iron man. I could go on and on about Michaels. Give this man a 10+

I give him a 9. Best I’ve ever seen in the ring. He could work with anyone and any style, face or heel. If memory serves me right, he’s got 11 PWI match of the year awards, including 7 in a row to close out the career, and his 2002 comeback match isn’t on the list. Even got a good match out of Chris masters once. Match of the year quality worker from the early 90’s all the way through 2010 when he retired. There’s no 2 matches I’ve been more hyped for than his comeback match at Summerslam or the first elimination chamber. Of my ten favorite matches, he’s in at least 5-6 of them. One of the most obnoxious and insufferable heels you’ll see, but not lacking in credibility. I’ll probably always maintain that the term I use for the pinnacle of heel heat is “Shawn in Canada” heat. Top 3 troll the sport has ever seen, and in my opinion the best seller ever. I can’t recall anyone getting in the ring with him and not looking at least capable during the match (except hogan :lolbron: ). The one flaw I find is that he wasn’t a particularly strong face promo, which I think is needed to get a 10. Really tempted to vote 10 regardless off the strength of his in ring work and longevity though.

Edit: switched to 10 off the strength of him being Jericho’s biggest influence in the ring too.

My personal favorite goat. He is what legit made me be a wrestling fan. I wasn’t in tune with his personal life until the early 2000s, so I was able to 100% simply enjoy him in the ring and that’s it. One of the greatest to ever do it. The only knock I’d give him is the horrendous versions of DX from 2006-2010 and 2018. 2 men nearing 50 doing crotch chops in today’s climate is trash. And I’ll retroactively knock him for shytting on Vader, Owen, Bret, Sid, etc.

So, here’s the thing. I’m not gonna type out a bunch about HBK and his career. You know what he’s done, I do, everyone in this topic does. He is, for better or worse, for the right reasons or the wrong ones, one of the most discussed wrestlers in this sub forum. I myself was a Stan of his as a kid-teen, and as an adult as well. I’m GOING to give him a 10. BUT, I do think he’s one of the more overrated wrestlers in the history of the business. As I’ve gotten older, I see the influence he’s had on many modern wrestlers, I know how he’s ranked by them and his peers, and by the fans. He’s got a bunch of classics in matches & promos, etc. Again, BUT I think him being the GOAT is a narrative that came out a long time ago, back in the early-mid 00’s before online communities like this one became a regular thing, before video libraries both domestically and overseas became more easily accessible, etc. and it was something that was mostly widely accepted because he was a great worker and the WWE were the ones pushing it :manny: I think he’s great but not the undisputed GOAT like others would say. We’ll go 10 anyway.
