The Traps of Unified Korea
what kinda storylines do they have over there if any?

figure it'd be straight comedy
There's stuff like Hustle, BJW, DDT, and Dragon Gate which have "sports entertainment" style, but of course being Japanese it's fukking nuts. If you've heard any crazy shyt about Japanese wrestling stories, it's probably from one of them.

The big companies have very simple storylines centered on "realism". There's no girl drama and shyt. It's basically a struggle for who's the best, and all the methods and allies one will use to get there. For one thing, there's really no such thing as a run-in or a dusty finish or a ref bump in puro. Face, heel, tweener, doesn't matter, matches 98% of the time have clean finishes.

Which is why people fukk with it. It's nice to watch some quality wrestling minus the #fukkery some times.

The fact you don't need to understand the language to follow everything says a lot.

As for this thread, it depends. What have you seen so far?

For someone just starting off, strong style is probably easier to get into than king's road, so NJPW classics will be a good look. Honestly, NJPW has been so good these past few years I'd say just watch the modern stuff and get to the older stuff if you feel like it.

Look through this thread and check out the stuff we're hyping. Tanahashi v Suzuki and Okada v Naito are probably the two best matches this year.

These are my personal two favorite Muta matches.

The Great Muta vs. Jushin Thunder Liger

The Great Muta vs. Jinsei Shinzaki (AKA Hakushi in the WWF)

Breh what the fukk have I been missing out on, this shyt was like a wrestling match in fast forward. :ohhh:

edit he kicked the shyt out of dude :krs: :deadmanny:

Japanese feds like to do this from time to time, and usually it's great.

I forgot just how hard Kenta kicked Ricky Marvin there though.

Another good one like this is Toshiaki Kawada vs. Kazuyuki Fujita from a few years back:

Probably the best wrestling match of all time. You know a match is :ohlawd: when it's known simply by the date

Man youtube made our lives so easier, I remember being 19,20 and ordering compilation tapes off of some random geocities websites, I remember getting Super J cup 94 and a compilation of Misawa, Kobashi and Kawada matches. I treasured that tape until the internet made this stuff accessible within seconds.
