That’s essentially what happens in most cases of an officer involved shooting because it’s what they’re trained to do. He was done the instant he discharged his own handgun even though one of the cops somewhat got control of where he could aim it. They learn reflexive firing just like Army/Marines combat arms does. They’re always going to mag dump until the silhouette changes shape, stops moving, and/or their mag is empty.
The took him down like we would have if we bumped into a combatant while clearing a room. Too close to shoot? Grab him, take him down, get as much control of his body as you can and somebody in the stack will shoot whatever part of him is exposed.
