I think many blk folks used to have conservative views

We really need to establish that conservative views =/= republican voting tendencies RE: black folks.

Most of our parents and grandparents hold conservative viewpoints on many issues, but they won't dare vote republican.

I'm just pointing out what I'm witnessing. If it was one or two times, I wouldn't say anything, but this has been a trend for a while now.

-So "used to" as in you don't think they do anymore?
No I don't think so

Correct. some of our parents and more of our grandparents held conservative views. 40s/50s and younger mostly don't. just take a look.
If yall can tell us how our ppl are conservative (not in terms of political affiliation)...please share

-Traditional families?
-sex?
-gender roles?
-stance on LGBT?
-Religion (Most don't want to follow a religion with strict rules)? now people might say they're "spiritual"
-Music and entertainment?
-The way our ppl dress?

We can but it costs SIGNIFICANTLY more to hire someone in the US compared to India and bring them over on H1B for the exact same role.

Companies are almost forced to outsource tech labor to India because of the massive wage gap. Even if you deport them, most will just outsource roles to remote India workers, its still way cheaper and more efficient than hiring in the US.

The unfortunate truth is, there is no incentive to give roles to Americans at the moment and Trump's agenda wont change that. :manny:
For starters they could repeal tax breaks companies that outsource jobs use. And replace it with a tax break for companies that hire US based workers. .

There are a ton of things that can be done. It's just a matter of if you have a party willing to do them or not. Democrats talked about repealing those tax breaks for companies that outsourced jobs for years. But if they did something about it they wouldn't have anything to run on.

Let me ask you a few questions.

What is the biggest barrier to the No Tax Breaks for Outsourcing Act being passed?

Would a corporate minimum tax and a tax on stock buybacks that aimed to curb profit shifting be good policy?

What about a global initiative to set a minimum corporate tax rate, designed to reduce incentives for companies that move profits and jobs offshore?

What about tax breaks to encourage reshoring and hiring of US-based workers?

There was never any real political appetite from politicians on either side. To passing something like the No tax breaks for outsourcing Act. Just like there wasn't for re-negotiating NAFTA or a dozen other common sense ideas.

A global tax initiative would never work it's too difficult and someone will always cheat.

Re-shoring tax breaks are the only thing that can work in the near term. My company has way more employees overseas than in the US. It would be a herculine effort to bring those jobs back to the US. They barely have any office space in the US anymore. And employees are spread out all over the globe in different timezones. My last 3 companies we're exactly the same way.

The US needs to protect certain industries they deem critical. They're doing something similar with the chips act. There is no reason they can't do the same with other industries.

If they're outsourcing tech labor then why would it be a problem to deport people living here

The India guys working here that are on Visa are not making pennies on the dollar

They're making just as much money as an American

That's our problem, we are always worried about everyone else

how are they feeling about trump right now?
I haven't asked any of them at work yet. Nobody has said much because I think people are still in shock.

But if you go on Blind or Reddit lots of them are panicking. Not as bad as last time when Trump got elected. I know for a fact people at my then company had a tougher time getting visas to come to the US. But demand for visas was much higher then also.

Hope canada does it as well. I don't like how people can come here and have a kid and then years later that kid just pop up and reap the benefits of healthcare etc. where they never even contributed anything to else.
Why does that bother you?
