Wait how does this punish Colombia tho? The American business owners who purchase their products are the ones that have to pay the tariffs which makes prices shoot up right?

no. they will buy their coffee elsewhere and colombia will lose sales.

or at least that is the theory.

This is the biggest consequences of this. China is about to eat mighty fine off all this shyt despite Trump being the tough on CHYNA guy.

If I'm Europe, Canada, or South America, why would I continue to deal with the US when they have shown themselves as being unstable and unreliable and China is at my door step offering to fill in?

because the USA is a debtor nation and the historical consumer of last resort.

that is why.

economics 101

Countries already started disengaging somewhat after his first term because they already viewed them as unreliable and making plans to cut the US out. Now the dumb ass americans went and even voted him back in. If I'm a country that maybe didn't bail the first time thinking, let me see if they act normal going forward, and I see that, I'm definitely bailing now.

China got the future.

Their coffee comes from central and South America.

Dunkin’ also boasts that its coffee comes from “100% Arabica beans from Central and South America.” Arabica beans have long been hailed as superior to Robusta beans by coffee tasters. The chain even works with the Rainforest Alliance to make sure its coffee is ethically sourced.

So his remedy when countries tell him to kick rocks is basically to tax the American people with tariffs....

not really. the economy will adjust.

free/capitalist markets have something called substitution.

that is why should occur to correct this.

:hubie:

that does cause issues if you place tariffs on a large trading partner (say china, germany) but colombia is not a big deal.

Columbia IS South America lol. I’m sure each company sources from multiple countries in the region.
