If you are Nancy Pelosi do you draw up articles of impeachment?
Yeah you have to at this point. I think there should’ve been impeachment articles way earlier over the emoluments clause cause it’s a clear and indisputable violation of the Constitution that Trump has shown no regard for, and it has a real world detrimental effect on US diplomacy and national security from Russia to Turkey to Saudi Arabia to wherever else the business dealings of the Trump administration are guiding foreign policy decisions. Don’t care if it was politically unpopular. By doing nothing they already allowed a culture of presidential criminality of an unprecedented nature and scope.
I understand looking at the Ukraine shyt and saying enough is enough and you have to draw the line somewhere so I support it. Unfortunately it’s something that I always predicted wouldn’t really move the public and so far I’ve been vindicated. Unless there’s some as of yet uncovered bombshell, this is gonna be a giant dud politically and the longer it stretches the worse it will get for Dems imo cause it will continue to dominate the 24 hour news cycle bubble and people are already tired of it and have tuned it out.
People already know what happened and no amount of “honorable patriots who dedicated their life to service of their country” from the State dept. testifying before Congress is gonna move opinions. Anyone who’s legitimately outraged by this already hates Trump anyway.
Everyone knows what he did in Ukraine was wrong. But threatening to cut of allotted aid if they don’t announce an investigation Hunter Biden serving on the board of a Ukrainian energy company, for a couple of months isn’t something that’s gonna get the pitchforks out.
I think a lot of people are asking themselves why the fukk are we giving that much money Ukraine anyway when things need funding for things here, are wondering why the fukk Hunter Biden, a lifelong fukkup/former crackhead who never accomplished anything without his last name is getting 55k a month to do nothing on a Ukrainian board, and see that the aid was ultimately granted anyway so it’s not that big of a deal and not worthy of impeachment.
Of all the Trump’s atrocities, such as funding a genocide in Yemen in order to cash in on business dealings of the Trump organization in Saudi Arabia for example this is isn’t close to the worse. The Russia shyt was way worse and that didn’t do anything to Trump.
So yeah Pelosi should impeach cause we came this far, but politically it’s a nothing and could potentially even backfire on Dems if it drags on for weeks and months. I read the Repubs want it to drag on cause the longer it goes the more it looks like Dems care more about damaging Trump than governing and nobody’s really changing their mind on the issue. The Repubs latest defense is basically what Will Hurd said: that it was wrong but it wasn’t a big enough deal to impeach over and I think most people will ultimately be at that conclusion.
