The governor in Wisconsin (Tony Evers) can't fill the seat, but has to call a special election. Offhand, I think it would default to Election Day because of the timing, per the state constitution.

Given that the state legislature and state supreme court are Republican controlled, they'd do everything they could to keep that from happening.

Secondly it’s not a 98 percent survival rate for an obese person in their mid 70’s

And thirdly, the Spanish Flu killed 50 million people and had a 2% death rate like Covid-19. Ergo, its just as deadly as one of the most deadly diseases in history. For each individual person, you still have a good chance of surviving but everyone always assumes they won’t be in the 2 percent. Some people will and it can be anyone. On a macro level, on a planet with billions of people, that’s an immense loss of life.
