Well shyt ...

Just like I told @DrX , keep thinking companies are low balling Indians/Asians. Tech companies want to bring more of them over here. It's only going to get worse. I'm with trump on this one.
Bro no way Asians r getting played the same as white american s...in the tech industry

The ones who work offshore aren't . But the ones Who work at the companies do. Look at the employee makeup of Facebook.. You'll find similar results at other tech companies.

You really think so many of them take up STEM related fields just to be low balled?

Alot of them are also in management and are the ones doing the hiring.
The most powerful Indian technologists in Silicon Valley

asiangooglenetwork.jpg

Diversity stats: 10 tech companies that have come clean ( Notice Asians are 2nd in every company ? )

and their percentage is only going to go UP, because they are pushing math/programming onto their kids at a early age. same reason I'm teaching my son now.

I live a high tech area and I might as well be in phuccin India. Tech companies DO pay H1B visa hires less than their qualified US citizen counterparts. Indians are happy to get 30% less because it's still way more than they'd get back home. It's a modern day F.U. to US born STEM graduates who really only have an advantage for fed jobs requiring security clearances. I've also participated in the recruiting process for H1B visa holders. THEY ARE CHEAP LABOR compared US citizens. That's why companies want them. I don't understand how a US citizen can support this shyt. I'm hardly xenophobic, it's a numbers game. US companies have always wanted free/cheap labor.

On this issue, he's right.

They've been trying their hardest to bring down the price of 'coders', hence the 'everybody needs to code' movements and the increase in h1b movements. It's a play to bring down the cost of labor, but the thing is, keep playing with the top notch American programmers and watch them start their own companies and bring in competition, and watch those Indians go back home and create their own start-ups.

These guys are trying to save money in the short-term, but little do they know of the risk they are posing to America by driving people away from tech and giving workers abroad all the experience and introducing competition for themselves abroad while causing the domestic tech skill base to shrink.

This is a brilliant analysis and I've never thought of it as a way to devalue the skill sets. Honestly it's like a fad. And it's kind of sad because being a good solid programmer has lots of layers to it. There's no way to shortcut vs. a Comp Sci major (except the RARE people who are really good self taught). I had to take progamming and I absolutely suck at it.
I have friends that ARE Comp Sci and Engineering grads who are brilliant at it, I wouldn't dare try to think I could get on their level when intro C++ whipped my natural azz.

There are no shortcuts to learning highly detailed technical skills...

double edged sword though...cause a lot of these companies were founded BY H-1Bs :snoop: :mindblown:

Very tricky situation indeed.

Yup, they are trying to make IT essentially the new Factory job, but not even trying to create an education system to support this, just getting cheap h1b labor.

yea IT isn't mindless work like say working at UPS slanging packages, yet people try to make it seem like anyone and everyone can get into STEM, the simple fact is not everyone is the same type of thinker that can strive in the STEM arena, which is not to say some people are smarter than others, but it simply requires a different way of thinking, and people want to ignore that.

Xenophobia at its best all over this thread.

the valley has always been Asian dominated. The Bay Area has always been a home for Asians since the 1800s

Many of the professional Asian workers in the valley, if not most, are American citizens including myself.

50% of Berkeley is Asian along with all other colleges in the Northern California.

We work hard, get ahead in society, and now we are being attacked by blacks (as always), whites and all non-Asians.

H1-bs are here because they are smart and capable. They aren't getting low balled.

Finding qualified blacks and Hispanics is very hard. Much harder than you would think

You seem to be conflating Asian Americans with foreign workers here on H1B work visas.

Trump playing 6 Cert 6 STEM degrees fools like fiddles. :wow: Like he cares about the hiring of blacks and Mexicans in the tech field. :heh: It's just part of his anti-immigrant rhetoric.
