Alright. So what’s the entire point of the post office today if there are other alternatives for mail and package delivery?

Those aren't viable alternatives for the level of service USPS provides. even those so-called 'alternatives' depend on the USPS for last mile delivery in many cases cause it's not profitable enough for them to go to certain rural low-income areas.

A senior (which we will all be one day - Lord willing) on fixed-income depending on critical medication would be assed out relying on the likes of FedEx or UPS. That's the difference between operating like a critical service vs. a profit-minded business.

I mean this respectfully, but your concept is off. Yes people pay for stamps, shipping, etc. but that is to cover operating costs. It is not intended to make a profit. The purpose is to serve the people and have an adequate system to help this country run. Everything should not be run as a business and for profit. Here is a perfect example. Prior to Reagan being President the government subsidized mental health and similar institutions. Reaganomics called for the privatization of those services in which they did. Once mental health customers and their families couldn't pay for those services, those companies put them in the street. That is why decades later a good portion of homeless people have mental health issues and prisons are filled with them. Be careful following talking points without critically thinking about the matter.
