i came across a tidbit of history about when electricity and power lines were spreading through a developing United States. It was "private"* companies installing the infrastructure and they initially refused to advance into at least the rural south (if not beyond as well) because a lack of profit projections... the Federal govt had to goad them into doing it. theres historic precedence to your point

Bro I got 15 years in as a career carrier. The post office saved my life got me out the streets in my 20s bought me a home and took care of my fam. I’m afraid of the direction it will go. It’s not a game I got 15 years in as a career carrier 3 as a TE. I’m telling people we do soo much for the public they don’t even realize. I’m in washington DC I broke down and got Prime and they still deliver packages 4 or 5 days on shyt that’s supposed to be one or 2 day deliveries at best.

Not to mention getting mail to Soldiers overseas.
