A masterpiece and a classic are two different things. There are very few albums, including undisputed classics that are actually masterpieces to me. That’s an entirely different category with totally different qualifications in quality, musicality ect.

Out of 10 classics, maybe one is an actual masterpiece. Out of all of Jay’s albums he doesn’t have a masterpiece level album. Kanye has one with MBDTF. Most rappers have none. Most legends only have one.

I don't think we disagree. :yeshrug: . My original point was that classics can be classic for different reasons. Quality and impact. So to the point of the thread if we are talking impact nobody can match Kanyes number

We can disagree about 50.

I agree with you mostly on Ye’ but the real question is how do you separate the Kanye impact from Jay impact and influence? You kinda can’t. But own his own as an artist he is in another league beyond just MCing. That’s why he has more classics. He’s the better creative and has better artistic taste.

Yes he does.

Reasonable doubt is one of the BEST albums of all time IMHO. BP, American Ganster, and the black album are also classics.

But Ye singlehandedly changed the course of hiphop with 808s. And Graduation. Then College Dropout, Late Registration, and MBDTF were all classics as well. Everything after Yeezus has been hot or miss though.
