Episode 5 definitely should of had a key revelation and turning point.

So indigenous breh slaughtering 20 cacs and being set up for the kids' murders with planted evidence that (in all likelihood) shuts down the investigation in '80 after making Wayne kill him in a very PTSD-inducing way isn't enough of a revelatory turning point for you? :gucci:

We found out that the cop that probably planted the evidence was killed, that other cops that were on the case died too, but nothing happened:hubie:

It was already alluded to that the town was trying to pin the kidnapping on the Indian man. It was clear there was going to be a show down. We got an early preview of what happened with the shootout when Hays looks at a photo of the aftermath in 90. That was not in any way a turning point. We simply learned why the investigation stopped in 80. A turning point is bigger than background info.

We do not find out if Harris is killed. We get a picture and we think it's possible, but again it was alluded to. I think there are 8 episodes this season...we are on episode 6. Turning points aren't hypotheticals.

Great break down on details I definitely missed. A must watch.

In the comments someone brings up the scene with Amelia reading jungle book, which I referred to in an earlier post. However they take it one step further and say that Bahgerra talking to Mowgli is Amelia talking to Julie.

Man I really think the entire town was connected. Many people had something to do with it and played a role in the scheme. Amelia is partly behind it, man. I'm telling you. And if we take the jungle book passage to be an allusion, the cast of animals raising Mowgli alludes to a society/cult of people each playing a role in abducting/brainwashing Julie

You said it yourself. THE TOWN was tryna pin it on him. Now we find out it was the cops taking advantage of the situation and planting evidence. Wayne looked at the picture in 90 right before we jumped back to 80. And I think a murderous shootout was a pretty damn big turning point in the case. Given that the show "takes place" in 2015, the entire story from 80 and 90 is "background info".

I agree that the last 3 episodes need to be substantial with no more Davis Junction-type dead ends, but to act like episode 5 was straight filler is :mindblown::rudy::camby:

No I didn't say that. They're alluding to cops planting evidence. We haven't been to that yet. It wasn't a filler episode. That episode more or less was about giving us a closer look at the relationships between Wayne, Amelia and Roland.

Why are you getting so defensive? Got damn. It's a good show. The structure and pacing is off a bit, but it's still a good show.

My theory is that she was given/sold to someone from Hoyt. Also think her referring to herself as the pink queen has something to do with that D&D game they were playing which is a game where you take on a role of a character.

That, or she's actually dead and Wayne's son doesn't want to go through the pain of telling him the news over and over.

Speaking as an only son who watched their nam vet father take the ultimate L to Alzheimer’s, you tend to just stop giving any information that can be in any way painful.

Some parts of this season is a recipe for transference. :francis:

All 7 seasons of the beloved Game of Thrones is available for streaming through HBO Now, you can always watch that instead. Don't know what trashing this show every post will do, it's clear as hell you don't like it.

Let other people enjoy it. Yes, this season of True Detective is not S1 but it's still a good story. You're acting like it's Vinyl levels of bad, which it simply isn't.
