Production issues aside I'm liking what I've read so far about this and can't wait. S2 was bad...but at the same time it holds a certain level of fascination in my mind. There was a good story somewhere in the muck...it just needed to be edited. Characters needed to be removed. It was a season of BLOAT. You could tell the writer was feeling himself and thought that shyt would be his epic. Nah...

S3 seems to be going back towards what made S1 great.
I liked how neo noir and Lynchian the second season was and I agree with you, it felt like a 1st draft. It needed to be polished so its full potential could be shown. I'm hoping S3 kicks ass because I really wanna see this franchise blossom as an anthology.

Expect a trailer on Sunday before or after the Sharp Objects series finale.

I don't think S2 was bad, not good as S1 tho.

But yeah S2's season was bloat...there were enough ideas in S2 for two seperate seasons

I think the pressure of S1 was too much. He didn't want to return to the "two detectives" thing so instead he went with three, plus an antagonist. So there were four main characters, twice as many as in S1. And it didn't work.

That being said there were a few great moments. First ep was largely meh but the second was great. The ending, when the bird dude shot Colin Farrel, was amazing. I thought ok this is a nice twist and let's see where it goes now. And then it just went down hill lmao.

Season 2 was decent, it just wasn’t nearly as good as season 1 and it had the groupthink hive mind set against it right from the start before episode 1 for some reason and anything less than being as good or better than season 1 was going to be dumped on. Not that their weren’t any issues.

They rushed the season,it needed a couple rewrites and more time in the oven but there was some good shyt and good episodes and performances in the season. Just needed to fleshed out and refined. The amount of time that was taken to make s1 compared to the 2nd is the major difference.

I agree with this but I don't think they'll ever match Matt/Woody and New Orleans as the backdrop. That's as perfect as it gets for a TV series.
