I chose to interpret the issues with Marty's daughter and her strange behavior as a child to be part of the "spell" or "hex" that was cast on that county. Something wasnt right, and the "flowers" that Errol and the Tuttles had planted were like a poisonous plague on that place. She was raised in that world, of course it was going to shape her.

All of the shots at the end of the countryside and landscape and how peaceful it looked showed me that Rust and Marty were successful in bringing back some of the natural beauty to that place. The show had conditioned us to fear the woods, and the swamps and plains because they were hiding something. But at the end, we were able to appreciate the land for what it was. The bit about light and darkness and "light" starting to win reinforced that notion for me. Everyone was affected by what was going on there, but no one could really put a finger on it.

Someone even mentioned in here how Carcosa, as fukked up as it was, was still kind of beautiful in a twisted way. I believe that Marty, more so than Rust, was impacted by that curse because he already had sexual compulsions and the women in his life were all very tormented by it. The psycho girl with the great breastmeats, the PAWG, his wife and what she resorted to. Rust seemed to be in touch with it, and even mentions early in the season how it felt like a picture of place that had died a long time ago. He was disgusted with everyone and everything, especially himself, because Maggie proved that he was no better than Marty when it came down to it.

This season was beautiful brehs. Theres a lot of symbolism and themes I feel that can be explored if you wanna go there, and if not, its still a damn solid murder mystery.

In terms of the show and reactions:

“Do you have a chapter in one of those books on jumping to conclusions? You attach an assumption to a piece of evidence, you start to bend the narrative to support it and prejudice yourself”

Best quote said in the entire series. Almost everyone here and other places were guilty of this, including me.

We even heard the news reporter at the end say that the authorities gave the :ufdup:to any suggestions that the Tuttle family was involved in any way.

The Tuttle part of the storyline wasn't gonna be "resolved" They're an extremely powerful family in Louisiana that's involved in some fukked up shyt and despite there being evidence in some of their dealings, they're able to sweep the shyt under the rug with only the pawns being touched.

At the end, the news reporter says, "the State Attorney General and the FBI have discredited rumors that the accused was someway related to the family of Louisiana Senator Edwin Tuttle"

Either the Tuttles are still using their power to cover this up or the government doesn't want to admit they fukked up 17 years ago and it's easier to have some white trash take the fall.

Surprised this was only mentioned a couple of times. That line jumped out to me right away, especially with the one line in Episode 7 "Death is not the end".

Not sure if this has been brough up yet but the whole "your face is not your own" line kinda reminds me of the shyt that the Joker was saying when he was arrested and was talking to shyt to the cops. He kept mentioning that you never really know someone till their about to die and at that point you see their true character, true persona.

"You see in their last moments people show you who they really are so in a way i know your friend better than you ever did, would you like to know which one of them were cowards." :wow:

This is my favorite picture from the entire series. I died laughing when the detectives showed this to Marty. Someone needs to make Rust's expression a smiley. It's almost as good as :rustcohle:

What the fukk is up with emo dude on the right though?

Dude looks like they were shooting the fourth season of The Walking Dead nearby and he wandered onto the wrong set.

Dude looks like the runner-up in the 2014 Louisiana Michael Jackson look-a-like contest.

Dude looks like he caught AIDS twice.
