Yeah, this show was looking like it was getting ready to have a GOAT season after episodes 4 and 5, but it kind of fizzled out like most mystery shows do.

I put this in that Twin Peaks/Lost tier where it had a fascinating journey but had a weak or unsatisfying conclusion overall.
Man, get the fukk out of this thread for that bullshyt, I dont even know what that other shyt is, but if you really just compared this shyt to Lost you got a problem bruh

Writers chickened out of potential GOATness with the kumbaya ending.
Can't front we needed to see a twist ala The Sixth Sense 'round this b*tch. Hell of a show though from start to finish. MM and Woody's acting in the end was :whew: The set design was crazy when Rust was going through those tunnels.

-not to knit pick but it needed a twist or more clues unearthed. I don't know if this story continues next season with new leads but if it doesn't then alot of things will go unanswered ala Lost. And it looks like Nick is writing the entire second season as well.. but he has to have different type personalities. Can't have two new dudes depressed, anti social, drunk, adulterous, recite dark philosophy like in season one. Or maybe you can:ehh:

Yeah man. I'm pretty upset actually with this ending. I didn't need Rust to have that turnaround in the end. It knocked the wind out of all the profound shyt he said the entire series. Put a bow on it.

Creator said early on that this show wasn't gonna have some crazy twist and that audiences have been conditioned to expect something like that all the time.

I won't be mad come award season they give Best Actor in a Drama to Matty M over homie Heisenberg.... it would only be fair.

Can't wait to see what next season is about.

Won't be in the same category, True Detective will be submitted in the miniseries category and BB will be in the best drama category.

I agree I am looking forward to seeing the direction season 2 takes.

Overall I really enjoyed the season, I wish people would stop comparing how great is was or wasn't to other shows and just enjoy it.

The best part about the show as a whole was the partnership between Rust and Marty and the ending scene at the hospital was :wow:

A twist would've been crack though:ohlawd:

The thing is he set the whole series up for a twist. Certain straight forward shows and movies you're like ok no need for a twist, lets just watch it play out. This sh*t had twist written all over it and he did the buddy cop happy ending instead. Should've had Marty's wife pop up at Carcosa so we would really be like:lupe::krs::damn:.. The Coli would've shut down after that. Give the people what they want:manny:

Rust had no less than 3 diatribes that absolutely floored me. The thresher comment, the dream in a locked box comment and one more that I'm forgetting.

No joke some of the most riveting stuff I'd ever seen in tv. The ending could have built on that.

OK, I binge watched the whole series today including the finale. Knew nothing about the show before I started other that people saying it was dope.

I have read through most of this thread now after watching the finale, but I stopped just before the posts for the finale episode. I want to post my thoughts for the series without being influenced by what other people are saying. So here they are:

Episodes 1-3 I loved. Cerebral, well written, well acted. Amazing TV.
Episodes 4-5 :whoo:. The shootout in the projects, and the shootout in the bayou while they told the false story to the investigators was just incredible. Had me fiendin lke a crack addict for more

Episodes 6-7 started to take a nosedive. I don't really know what my expectations were, but they weren't super inflated because I watched the whole series at once. No weekly discussions and debates about theories.

Season Finale :ld:Incredibly average. Really brought the whole season down in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I thought the series was :whew: and some of the best shyt currently on television, but over in the Hannibal thread I saw a dude getting attacked for saying that Hannibal was just as good as True Detective and after the finale I agree. That aint a diss though, Hannibal is one of my favorite shows on TV.

As far as this thread goes, YALL SERIOUSLY LOST HARD with all these theories and shyt. I'm so glad I didn't have to read through this as the season went on, because I would probably hate the show at the end of it. Even though the writer flat out told yall to chill out you just couldn't help yourselves. Some of the posts I read here tonight are just ridiculous.

OK, now off to read all yalls thoughts on the finale:lupe:

The mysteries were more interesting than the actual answers to those mysteries. Still a great season overall, but it didn't turn out to be the GOAT season I hoped it would be after those two stellar episodes we got in the middle of the season.

OK, read all your thoughts.

You guys serious with this? You are OK with the last few episodes turning into a standard detective drama? You are OK with the Tuttle part of the storyline having zero resolution? I never once thought that the Spaghetti Monster was supposed to be the endgame this season, it seemed clear to me that he was just a player in a larger game (which he was, and which the show presented to be the endgame). So the relief that Marty and Rust have at the end for getting "their guy" just seemed false to me. Rust spent years turning into a worn out alcoholic and druggie trying to take down the Tuttle clan, but he almost seemed accepting of everything at the end. Did not make sense for the character at all.

All that being said...its water under the bridge. Show was great, writing of the first 5 episodes was legendary status, acting was amazing and Matt M. deserves an Emmy no doubt, overall a high quality series that I will check out future seasons of. But damn yall are pretty hype over this episode and I can't wrap my head around it other than Matt M.'s acting performance.
