People are saying blasphemous things about Woody Harrelson on other sites :snoop:

i think all the shade woody gets isnt cause of anything he's done, i think it's cause of the love affair with rust the character...like mentioned in here, that character was a good amount of people's superman....and since marty is portrayed as his yang, woody gets the shade...when doing that, people are ignoring the fact woody has been acting his ass off too...

Yeah, Woody has been doing a great job too. MM's character is just more interesting, that's why he's getting the most shine. But if you're into acting, you gotta admit Woody is doing an exceptional job too. Great casting work, whoever did that

marty has also been kind of useless during the show, getting in the way more often then helping and letting his personal life creep into his work. last episode was the exception, but you get the feeling any likeable/personable experienced cop with connections could fill marty's shoes and help out, whereas rust is one of a kind

i disagree....he's a good cop, he just didnt commit fully to the job like rust did....which was by choice cause he wanted to have a life outside the job....also, he's been the yang to rust's yin...his character has helped keep rust grounded and been the one to counterpoint a lot of the shyt rust says when he goes on tangents...which is great cause that's the character's point...it's not to be likeable...which i think is by design as well....cause both of their lives are fukked up, so i think the writer is showing you cant go too far in either direction, you need balance...cause when rust and marty work together/balancing each other out, they get shyt done and make a hell of a team...

This is from the last episode so it's not a spoiler, it's Audrey picture that she painted, notice anything unusual about it?

New interview with Matthew McConaughey from today, where he confirms what @obarth and myself said about Rust:

http://www.rollingstone.com/movies/...tages-of-true-detective-rustin-cohle-20140304

Here, in McConaughey's own words, are the "Four Stages of Rustin Cohle":

1995 Cohle

"Back to being a part of the body. He's coming off of years being Crash. He's trying to walk the line. Monk-like. Trying to hold it together. And that's a lot easier with less interaction with others. There's a mechanical side to him. He needs the regimen of the homicide detective. He needs the case to actually survive. One, because he's great at it. And two, because it's going to keep him from killing himself."

Crash

"He's our deep, narco wild-ass. A guy who goes all the way. This is where Cohle has all the freedom. He can go over the edge as this guy. And inside, he loves the life of Crash even more, because the shackles are off of him. He knows he may die sooner living this life, but there's a freedom and peace in that knowledge for him."

2002 Cohle

"A little looser mix of Crash and the '95 Cohle. A guy who's made his boundaries clear and has to mark less territory, so he's relaxed into his way in the world. But the case is still his lifeline. He has some small hope that there's going to be a way out of his being and pain and criticism, so he makes an effort into domesticity, a la the girlfriend. Only to prove that he was not made for it, and there is no way out. So what does he do? He resigns to his nature, once again."

2012 Cohle.

"This guy lived longer than he hoped. Fallen prey to his own beliefs. More cynical, angrier, he's had to endure the existence of this shytstorm called life. A little ragged, more rough edges, living in a place where he can manage himself. Not too close. He's not in the CID. But he's not in Alaska. He's a guy who's resigned to his indentured servitude of being alive. But he despises the sentence and the penance. He will not accept defeat. He's not going become a madman, he's not going to kill himself. He wrestles the devil every day, and he realizes that this may last a lot longer than he ever hoped for."

Hopefully this clears it up once and for all for the people that thought the character magically changed by fukking Maggie. :manny:

Man, you're a funny dude.

He has some small hope that there's going to be a way out of his being and pain and criticism, so he makes an effort into domesticity, a la the girlfriend. Only to prove that he was not made for it, and there is no way out. So what does he do? He resigns to his nature, once again."

What do you think he meant by this part?

And dudes saying that this show sucks now :childplease::childplease::childplease:. Watch this and then watch Rick running around screaming "Cuarhhhll!!!!".

glad you were able to leave that filth

Someone said earlier, man the post 2002 Marty looks defeated. I think him seeing Rust and having a purpose as of taking care of the case has given him some of his life back. Seeing him peel back that flavorless bland TV dinner alone was great scene to me. The look on his face after he tasted which I assume was the nasty jelly like "desert" Tyson dinners gives you was like damn I used to have a woman to cook for me.

Great. Great scene.

As far as the Maggie theory, I do not think she's involved atleast knowingly, but I am curious why she has that mural painting of the psych ward? Maybe her dad is involved and she spent time at the psych ward. Or why did she meet with Rust. Obviously something has been off about Marty's daughter as well, those pictures she drew had a man wearing a mask is too much of a coincidence, so there is something there.
