Yeah If I remember correctly during one interview when the show first started, MM said the writers gave him the freedom to change a few parts of the script if he ran it by them afterwards.

I'm much more excited for it now. I went back and saw Mud, Lincoln Lawyer, Dallas Buyer's Club, Magic Mike, and Killer Joe this past month.

Just read an interview with Cary Fukunaga the director of these 8 eps he said there's a 90 minute cut of episode 5.
Hopefully they include that and other director's cuts of eps on the Blu-Ray.
