The major plot hole in last night's episode was Rust visiting the girl in the mental health center. He decides to finally ask her if anyone else is involved in the kidnapping ring and she drops a huge clue during the visit.

Really? After all these years not a single person has asked her that question? Not even True Detective super genius Rust? That was a bit of a stretch for me. Otherwise a great show, but the writers didn't think that one through enough unless we are to assume case closed/no questions asked once they murked Reggie...
Good point :lupe:

There hasnt been any other murders since that day though, its with the best intentions no one asked or mention anything about her past, people treat traumatic cases with extreme regard for the victim, not a plothole at all
Breh, initially Rust was only using DeWall to get to Ledoux. That was the whole point of the fake drug meeting in the bar. He didn't actually find out he was a part of the whole thing as well until he got to the little compound in the middle of the woods. So, Rust finds out a second person is involved only minutes before everything pops off and were to assume that Rust was content in knowing there were only two suspects involved? Nah not Rust. He's too inquisitive. The only explanation I can understand is if the victim went completely mute for all these years.

maybe she was worse in the time after she was rescued. when she spoke to him, even the nurse looked surprised like it was the first time she heard her speak.

With that being said, trying to get answers from a traumatized victim is still an insensitive procedure even for Rust.. The whole point of that scene with the girl was to show the viewer how off the deep end Rust is going just to get answers, It was a stupid decision, just like fukking Martys wife was...Rust is losing himself over the case

Nah, they wouldn't, because Rust/Marty were operating under the assumption that it was Reggie Ledoux alone. At no point prior to the guy freaking out in the cell shouting :damn:"THE YELLOW KING" did Rust entertain the thought of it being a conspiracy.

A serial killer is rare. A cult? That's like a unicorn man. Reggie died, his boy got blew up, and the killing stopped. He might've asked to talk to her back then and his bosses told him :camby: because the case was over. If Rust went snooping around in '95 he would've gotten suspended same as he did in '02.

i can see the police pushing closure with them facing pressure from powers that be who have knowledge about the true interworkings of this sick cult.
Like Rust said in the interviews... she's just going back to her room where she'll always be

:wow:

So how do y'all think it ends? ...
i have some strong guesses about who and who isn't involved at this point. but i think the biggest question mark left for me is if maggie is involved somehow. before this last episode i was leaning towards YES, now I'm not so sure. she was much more human in this episode and she legitimately looked like she was desperate for love/attention. why would she care about this ideals if she was part of a sick demonic cult? the previous episodes painted her as very cold/dry and just stuck up in that house 24/7 with those kids to do demonic things.

that scene gave me chills man. imagine going thru something so traumatic that you just become a zombie and sit in a chair replaying it in ur head for the rest of ur life.
its hollywood, but it's crazy to think people...kids have and are at this very moment suffering similar atrocities. as we politik on here about this fantastic show, some girl is locked up in a room somewhere in bumfukk, USA being tortured and raped like an animal and no matter how loud she screams, no one will hear her. it's a sick sick world man. :wow:

Even if they didn't have knowledge of it, I'm sure it played out exactly like "The Wire". The case is closed, don't go fukking it up. They want results, numbers on the board. They don't want you to be on some McNulty shyt finding more bodies.

did anybody else notice how rust got real close to the reverend tuttle at one point to, i thought, look at his face for scars? when he walked to the window behind his desk and the reverend got up, the camera was real close to his face and it looked like he had a shytty makeup job. maybe its me over analyzing but at that point i was checking his face thoroughly for scars. not to mention he was a really big guy too.

somebody earlier in this thread called him white madea :mjlol:
