It almost seems like the character was based on the typical "Internet Tough Guy/Genius" that people love to portray online. Supremely logical philosopher and martial arts expert who is smarter than literally everybody they meet, shows no emotion and completely rejects social norms.
No - what you guys fail to realize.. she fukked Rust because she knew Marty would never want to touch her again after that. Her fukking a stranger would not have had the same effect.
She didnt just fukk Rust because she knew it would piss off Marty - she did it so they could finally end their relationship.
I'd be disappointed if this is the case. My first impression of the show is that while the acting was good, and I enjoy conversations about existentialism, quantam physics, and spirituality and what not, i didn't see how it fit in with the overall story. I was more intrigued by the murder investigation than I was about the characters. The character stories are good but the symbolism and mystery involved in the investigation is what draws me to the show.
Yep, that's why these cats are taking this shyt so hard.
That isn't actually who he is though. Hell, the writer gave people a big ass clue in episode 3 when Rust is rambling on and on about life and religion and Marty flat out tells him "you sound panicked"...."for a guy that sees no point in existence you sure fret about it an awful lot".
Meanwhile Rust fanboys completely over looked the context and was "OMG look at how edgy and anti-establishment he is, shytting on mainstream religion like that!".
Fred.
damn near the whole episode had a yellow tintroom had a yellow tint too
its kinda sad but i also like it..its a good length for someone as A.D.D. as me..gives me some hope that they can make a decent boardwalk empire sendoffonly 120 minutes of true detective season 1 left
I think you're trying to pass off your opinion as fact. The character is much more complex than that. If you look at how he used his views on religion for the subsequent interrogation of the suspect and what he said in 2012, he definitely believes in that. A lot of those views are views he holds from 1995 to 2012 (And so on possibly)
Definitely lol. Keep your hoes in check breh's, bytches will do that type of shyt quick. fukkin an unknown nikka?????????? I would not care cause I aint never been faithful in my life, but if a bytch fukks my mans im gone want to kill that bytchHe was wasted and I could sense a subtle connection between them from the instant they met. Honestly the first night he went over to Marty's place to talk with them I could see Cohle was gonna fukk Marty's wife the second this whole dynamic was introduced. The foreshadowing was obvious as hell
You do what for a living?
Don't take this personally but you aren't doing anything special here. I see Rust fanboys all across the 'net throwing the exact same fit you are. "Bu bu but....Rust wasn't supposed to do that".
Whatever you do for a living the people behind this show do it better, and with more success. Think you understand a character better than the man that is writing him, brehs.
How old are you? You need to step into modern times. You named:
The most recent character on that list is John McClane. He's from 1988. Captain Hook? 1904. King Lear? 1606.
It's 2014. 2014!
Over the last 15 years or so we've been given a wide range of characters that are amorphous. They aren't easily defined. They're contradictory. Sometimes they're hypocrites.
Tony Soprano. Walter White. Avon Barksdale. etc.
These are people that could callously order a murder and directly after that give $15,000 to help neighborhood kids. The same kids they could potentially hire to commit the murders.
We're in the Golden Age of TV. It's the visual novel. There's no need to sum up a character in a few lines of tidy dialogue in Chapter 1 anymore. Characters can be as messy and as human as real humans. Meanwhile people like you are stuck in the past talking about Achilles.
Lastly, instead of trying to over think everything you need to pay attention. Rust told you he was a hypocrite prone to contradicting himself in the very first episode:
Rust talks a good game but in the end he's human. He's not some Nietzschean Superman, he is weak. If he acted solely by his defining characteristics there wouldn't be a show because he would've committed suicide before we ever seen him. It's funny how you're willing to overlook that because it makes the character seem "edgy" and "cool" but throw a fit because he got his dikk wet.
So no, normally Rust wouldn't fukk Marty's wife. But in the end he's a man, and he couldn't deny his programming.
Fred.
This isn't my opinion. Again, the guy that created the character said this in an interview 2-3 weeks ago. I'm just paraphrasing what he said.
Rust talks a good game but at the end of the day he doesn't really want to believe the shyt he says, and has built up a wall around himself.
