The sentencing was warranted.

He broke numerous safety procedures and laws because of his recklessness en route to killing four ppl and luckily it wasn't much deadlier than it was which justifies thee sentence as it's not just about what did happen but what could've happened.

I can't stand some of y'all “nikkas” sometimes. Always having some soft spot for cacs or some other non-Black person when they get in trouble with the law but be extremely authoritarian-ish when the person is Black :mjpls:

I used to drive Truck before. Best advice I received was "this is a loaded gun, treated as such and you will be OK. Go against your better judgment while rushing, taking short cuts while behind, not being alert and calculating at all times (situational awareness), failing to do scheduled maintenance and inspections, and you will kill someone.

follow laws to a T Not only do you have to compensate for your shortcomings you have to compensate for the little old lady and the cac that just cut you off and flipped the bird. Make it to your bed every night. "

Applies to every facet of life.
Unfortunate but I understand the sentence.

That's why I am not even commenting.

It might have been excessive but no black person would receive this amount of pity

That makes sense if his breaks were malfunctioning

They weren't malfunctioning..

He was carrying 50k lbs of lumber through the mountains..

He was supposed to be in a gear while going down the mountain. Using the engine as a additional braking system.

So while free wheeling down a mountain, carrying 50k lbs of lumber, his brakes started smoking. You CANNOT get the transmission into a gear going down a mountain..

At that point he should've seen the writing on the wall and ran into a off ramp.. Why he tried to save that truck and load is beyond me..

HIS STORY DOESNT ADD UP.

HE REALIZED HIS BREAKS
ALLEGEDLY WERENT WORKING

AND STILL DECIDED TO PASS THAT
RUNAWAY TRUCK RAMP MILES
BEFORE THE ACCIDENT...

IT WAS PUT THERE
FOR THAT SPECIFIC REASON.

I agree.. Can't lie, I call bullshyt

Look at the wording. He realized his breaks were bad

1. As a truck driver you supposed to do a pre-trip on your truck. He would have known the brakes were malfunctioning before getting on the highway.

2. Say the breaks were fine, then got bad while driving. Brakes don't just "go bad" out of nowhere if they were originally in perfect condition. Let's be real, his 85 mph driving on a steep hill caused him to constantly hard press on the breaks causing them to overheat and burn out. He most likely caused the breaks to burn because he doesn't know how to slow the truck down

3. There are Jake brakes and Engine Breaks he could have used

4. The runway ramps before the accident does him in as well

He definitely should get some time, 10-15 years IMO

I’m glad someone else see this shyt. Ain’t no nonblack group would have this much sympathy to someone so damn reckless. Like back to back posts of crying for a dumbass but if he was a black man then there would be dehumanizing posts back to back and would type all types of shyt to justify his recklessness. These dudes aren’t black.

No person should be sentenced to 110 yrs in this situation

Lol@people throwing race into it. I really believe part of the reason he got that sentence is because he's latino

But nobody deserves that.

10-25 yrs that's enough.. at 26 he gets out at 51 he's missed the prime of his life and did hard time

But to never be free again for this accident is not right at all.

If he had stabbed those people in the chest then life in prison would make sense

This was a vehicle malfunction and an accident

Alec Baldwin pointed a gun at someone show while working
It accidentally discharged live ammo and killed someone .. there's some negligence involved in that too.. is he or anyone gonna get life for that ?

He shouldn't... but I'm gonna guess he gets no time

I’m sure there were signs warning there was a downgrade coming up. You’re supposed to downshift before you approach the downgrade. The law considers truck drivers to be professional driver so they hold them to a higher standard.

Wasn’t a vehicle malfunction it was driver error. You are trained to never use your brakes on a downgrade. You start downshifting once you see the signs warning there is a downgrade approaching.

That sentencing is absurd. If he was drunk, fine, but because he didn't take a runway ramp and his brakes may have not been working (maybe due to his driving), he gets 110 years? That's insane.
