So the mayor didn't encourage evacuations but the Governor said to evacuate...

First off, why wouldn't an official urge folks to evacuate?

Was the mayor concerned about the road network being overwhelmed?

Honestly don't understand why people don't leave... Regardless.

If the forecast is saying this storm is gonna be a doozy... why not leave?

I mean... you see this shyt comin... you see the news...you have the MEANS and RESOURCES and MONEY to leave... to literally drive two counties east? Why not leave regardless? :mindblown:

A lot of the folks being shown aren't elderly aren't dirt poor and aren't disabled... they appear to be able bodied homeowners.

...doesn't seem like many of the those affected were dirt poor like those in Katrina... It's a tragedy and it's horrible.

But it appears they had the means to leave. these are homeowners, not folks in subsidized housing like in Katrina.

...the language that some media outlets are using, they're trying to make this in to Katrina low key...It's not and shouldn't compare tragedies.

I mean, how does a senior citizen's home not get evacuated... just off GP? :mindblown:
Its not that simple. Houston is a HUGE city bruh

More people died trying to evacuate for Rita than they did this weekend. Were talking 2 deaths against over 100

Mass evacuation of a city like Houston gets you those situations you see in disaster movies

They are like a parasitic organism waiting for a host to come by. One person just needs to bump into that and they will move with the quickness and cover that person.

I wanted to bring this up when this thread was 1st created. It seems there's at least 1 major flood in Houston every year. You couldn't get me to move out there with the annual flooding..
Yeah I think there's been a flood in Houston the last 3 consecutive years

The last two times I was in Houston was last June and last December, and both times I was amazed at how quickly the weather would change ... it'd be sunny and 90s degrees out and then five minutes later it'd be raining cats and dogs
