So the mayor didn't encourage evacuations but the Governor said to evacuate...

First off, why wouldn't an official urge folks to evacuate?

Was the mayor concerned about the road network being overwhelmed?

Honestly don't understand why people don't leave... Regardless.

If the forecast is saying this storm is gonna be a doozy... why not leave?

I mean... you see this shyt comin... you see the news...you have the MEANS and RESOURCES and MONEY to leave... to literally drive two counties east? Why not leave regardless? :mindblown:

A lot of the folks being shown aren't elderly aren't dirt poor and aren't disabled... they appear to be able bodied homeowners.

...doesn't seem like many of the those affected were dirt poor like those in Katrina... It's a tragedy and it's horrible.

But it appears they had the means to leave. these are homeowners, not folks in subsidized housing like in Katrina.

...the language that some media outlets are using, they're trying to make this in to Katrina low key...It's not and shouldn't compare tragedies.

I mean, how does a senior citizen's home not get evacuated... just off GP? :mindblown:
Read the thread..we've already answered this multiple times

I'm down for it.

We should get a GroupMe chat going. Better for everyone to communicate with each other.

Everywhere...You never there.
People died on the road because 6 million people tried to hit I10 at the same time last time they evacuated everyone.

I wasn't talking about them per se... RIP...

...but forecasters at least 2 days prior to landfall, said this storm poses a "grave risk" to residents... and people still stayed? Able bodied people with resources to leave still stayed in the heart of where the storm would likely track. And they forecasted that that the storm would stall.

I don't get it.

Not going back through all that but appreciate it tho.
They knew the flood zones were going to get hit..but even in those areas it's impossible to make everyone evacuate
Now as far as the rest of Houston?they couldn't pinpoint which areas were going to be affected
There are millions of people in the Metropolis alone..

Some folks never listen to the authorities anyway
No excuse for putting the elderly and disabled in danger but you can't make these people evacuate if they don't want to

You need to Google Hurricane Rita and its aftermath
