HOUSTON, TX (KPLC) -
The founder of the Louisiana Cajun Navy has responded to questions about a Facebook post published on the group's page on Monday afternoon.
The post detailed "looters" posing as people that needed to be rescued in Houston tried to overtake their boats, and then fired shots at members of the Cajun Navy.
Clyde Cain, the Founder of the Louisiana Cajun Navy says they had three boats around the Sam Houston Tollway in Pasadena, Texas.
Around 10 am; "The leader of that boat was going to pick up some people and they came across some people who we believe were looting and those looters fired shots. We don't know if they were shooting at our crew or just shooting in the air so our crew turned around and left. Nobody was injured."
Cain also says they also had two boats stranded, on Monday. The two Cajun Navy members didn't want to leave their boats alone because they were worried they would have been stolen.
Two marshals in an airboat ended up rescuing that stranded boat.
The Louisiana Cajun Navy is the umbrella that includes several smaller 'Cajun' rescue groups.
They formed over 12 years ago, and have been rescuing stranded flood victims ever since.
Many members of the group are currently in Houston to help victims of Tropical Storm Harvey.
