Actually yes, the city was built terribly

No zoning laws, basically destroyed the marshland and swamps that would alleviate the flooding with concrete, asphalt and buildings

Was reading an article that the city wasn't meant to be that large/sprawling

I agree wholeheartedly. It is time for Houston and the state of Texas to stop relaying so heavily on privatization for urban planning. We need to think about being much stricter on how subdivisions are built. In Alief near the Energy Corridor they built a gaint retention lake and so far the area hasn't flooded (God willing it stays that way). Image if they built houses in place of that lake. Alief would be underwater.

It is called Bishop Florenza Park.

Some people will leave but Houston got too many damn jobs and the COL is still much better than other cities. I lived in DC recently. shyt is insane how much your quality of life improves in this city. shyt, you don't even dislike cacs as much here as you do there.

I'm in New York right now and I plan to move back at the end of the year - the bolded is one of the main reasons why (in addition to family and weather - current situation excluded :troll: )
