Actually yes, the city was built terribly

No zoning laws, basically destroyed the marshland and swamps that would alleviate the flooding with concrete, asphalt and buildings

Was reading an article that the city wasn't meant to be that large/sprawling
Worry about the rampant crime and wonton violence in your communities. We'll focus on the flood. Especially being from the south side of chicago, the literal deflection of choice for any white supremacist looking to point out black pathology.

fukk out of the thread with your negative energy.

Some people will leave but Houston got too many damn jobs and the COL is still much better than other cities. I lived in DC recently. shyt is insane how much your quality of life improves in this city. shyt, you don't even dislike cacs as much here as you do there.

I'm in New York right now and I plan to move back at the end of the year - the bolded is one of the main reasons why (in addition to family and weather - current situation excluded :troll: )

It's cuz y'all nikkas don't got no damn public transportation down there :russ:

How the city like 630 square miles and y'all don't got no trains and the bus system sporadic at best :stopitslime:

You need a densely populated area for trains to be effective and people don't move to Texas to be all on top of each other. Plus white people don't like trains because they give minorities too much freedom to move around.

I've been saying this for a long time. Too many people are moving out here.
Houston seems like a place where people from Cali would def move to considering all the opportunity out there, I know I considered it before all this went down. Is the city ever gonna be the same again? News making it seem like this is worse than Katrina in terms of damage

in fairness Texas and Houston are a good bit wealthier than Louisiana and New Orleans ever were (with better local/state governments) so they will probably be able to bounce back quicker.

I don't know but I've lived here all my life and from about 1999 to now Houston Pearland and Galveston population has exploded but they don't build roads fast enough to accommodate all these commuters. Houses are built, apartment complexes thrown up but nobody thinks about all of this till natural disasters come and highlight everything that's wrong with the city.
