What’s up Bodyslamming Brehs

Just lowkey got back into the sht and I need help understanding: How/why is Roman Reigns title run not as bad or worse than Triple H’s reign of terror?

I saw the later half of Triple H run from about 2004-2005 but as a kid it didn’t seem too out of place for me and who he was. In retrospect it put over Randy Orton and Bautista

I’m having a hard time as to seeing how and why Roman is really THAT guy to begin with. I’m just lawst all together. Same formula to all his matches. We talking bout reigning 1,000 days

might go over Hogan’s record of almost 1500 days according to rumors floating

And now he’s going for the tag titles too??

I just need a comparative perspective from brehs that have been embedded in this for years. What sets Roman’s title run apart from Triple H or any of the longer Reigns in a positive manner?

Been bothering me a while would just like to know. Sorry if this is already an ongoing convo or a rehashing of the same ol thing.

Triple H's reign often blurred and broke kayfabe because of his actual relationship with Stephanie, so you were constantly having your immersion broken which makes it hard to enjoy. There were some damn good matches and angles but looming over it all was the backstage politics. On top of that he was out there every week, sometimes 2x a week to remind you with a long promo.

They've done a great job with making Roman's appearances seem more impactful, the angles actually make you want to see how they get resolved even if you're sure of the ending, and the Bloodline story has been an extra layer that essentially feeds you content between actual appearances and defenses. It's not all Roman, you have a buffer and other wrestlers can actually breathe, midcard belts get elevated to fill the void, guys who usually would be on even terms are fighting an almost impossible uphill battle so they don't lose as much steam with a loss.

There's a lot of moving pieces and Roman is at the center but they've made sure that he's not the whole picture and that's why it works. Roman, Paul, Usos, Sikoa it all generates an atmosphere that you just didn't have with H. A good storyteller minimizes the flaws, showcases the strengths, and gives you something extra to keep you engaged and that's what creative has done here.

There’s a few differences. To start, Roman is THE guy. Period. Trips was not. Roman is also not all over the show every week. Triple H would open the show with a 20 minute promo and be in three other segments. I think Trips gets too much hate online but his reign of terror was a thing.

Can I get some specifics on how Roman surpasses HHH and becomes must watch?

@CBoz @Versa @Silkk
Roman not putting down the hottest acts in the company month after month. The only two people that imo could/should have beat him were Cody & Drew Mac.

He also isn’t taking up 20 minutes of the show every week with a wack ass promo.

If you only saw the latter half of HHH’s run then you literally missed the worst of it. But here’s a great recap:

Great points. People complain Roman isn't on the show every week but if he was then it would just be a repeat of your first paragraph. This is why Roman is working because it's not always the all encompassing focus of the shows each and every week. The breaks give other stories time to shine and people to breath. And what do those people expect him to do if he was there week in and week out? Do they want a title defense each time? He's about to be on SD again this week and probably the week after since it's going to be recorded after. But I'm sure people will still complain.

A few people mentioned HHH’s nepotism which can’t be ignored but Roman literally descends from a Wrestling dynasty :pachaha:

And apparently they got pull too in terms of the booking. Of course can’t believe everything you hear on the internet but I came across a few rumors that the wild Samoans rejected a recent booking for Roman. Like daaamn.

Does any of that play into how Roman and the Bloodline is perceived to y’all or does it not matter?
