so now all of a sudden Dilfer's opinion doesn't matter because he rightfully shytted on RG3's play in the pocket today? had RG3 balled out and he praised him, I doubt anyone would be saying "man, fukk Dilfer's opinion"... so who's opinion actually matters, then? Not Mayock since he didn't play the position. Not anyone on here since we've never been an NFL QB. Marino? Montana? Young? Favre?

he's absolutely right though... once RG3 got hurt, dude was basically Tim Couch status back there; missing easy ass throws that damn near any other starting QB would make; if he's gonna insist on staying in the game, then he has to learn to play with pain and not hurt his team... if he can't, then swallow your pride and say you can't play and let Cousins come in and give your team a chance to win the game and survive for another week

but you guys stan RG3 on here, so I fully expect everyone to put that cape on and ride for him regardless

I understand you saying that RGIII maybe should have sat down, but to exclude the fact that his inability to use his plant foot to hit those throws he was missing makes you just as bad Dilfer. There's a thing called context that's missing from Dilfers dumb ass critique. At least give RGIII a decent window of games where RGIII showed those inabilities before coming to that dumb ass assessment he couldn't wait to get out.

I just don't think this was the game for Dilfer to let out what obviously was his long held genie out the bottle.

To be honest, I think he was just calling a spade a spade. RG3 missed a lot of throws that hurt his team. Was that due to him being injured. Probably so. Does it matter? No. If you're gonna go out there while injured, it's because you feel like you give your team the best chance to win. RG3 wasn't doing that while looking like Cleo Lemon after the 1st quarter.

Should Dilfer have just ignored what everyone at home saw, which was RG3 playing like a duck after he got hurt, despite his job being to analyze and talk about games for ESPN?

The one or two throws that Kirk Cousin completed were equal to or more impressive than any throw RG3 made in the game. Who knows what would have happened had he played the whole 2nd half. Obviously RG3 thought he was doing what was best for the team by staying in the game, but from the outside looking in, Dilfer obviously disagrees. I don't see what the problem is.

I think it takes more than one game to know if a qb is a unable to be a pocket passer....make his progressions....why not you?

And again...you're just as bad as Dilfer ignoring that his plant leg being hurt led to those errant throws.

That's your second post in a row ignoring that.

:comeon: have you seen him play at all this season? dude can make every throw it was all on the injury. again youre blaming the player for playing hurt instead of the coach who can sit him down.

dogg, Trent Dilfer never said "RG3 is not capable of being productive from the pocket" he said "RG3 wasn't productive from the pocket TODAY and it hurt his team"... why would any stats or performance outside of THIS GAME matter in that assessment? You're acting like he's been shytting on RG3 all season or something and just used today to pile on. He prefaced his statement by saying he thinks RG3 is an amazing talent and he's his biggest fan. This was a one game criticism, not some indictment of RG3's limitations as a player when healthy.

It doesn't matter that he was hurt or if him being hurt was the reason he was inaccurate (it was likely the reason)... what he (and I) are saying is that RG3 isn't the first QB to play while banged up- he reeled off names like Big Ben, etc., so he needs to learn to do so while also giving his team the best chance to win, which he didn't today.

Again, what's wrong with saying that?

Dilfer questioned RGIII toughness...a rookie with little resume and last week played in a win or your out game on a busted wheel last week.

Dilfer thinks this was the game to question RGIII abilities as a pocket passer and ability to read progressions...again....a rookie who played with a busted wheel today which worsened throughout the game.

And this lone game is the game to bring up those things? :rudy:

Come on man. Dilfer is gassed by those qb clinics he has for HS kids on ESPN.

who said anything about all season? this was about ONE GAME. TODAY. Him being hurt and not being able to make throws he'd usually make. When has Dilfer or anyone else for that matter put up footage of RG3 missing throws and saying he can't play from the pocket? Has that ever happened this season?

You dudes are somehow trying to make it seem like people had some kind of hidden vendetta against RG3 and are using today to lash out and pour on him. shyt ain't that serious. He played like shyt today because he was hurt. That's all there is too it.

on 2nd thought, y'all are right lmao... Dilfer shyt on him, but I actually agree with what he's saying and have been saying so all season, along with a lot of other posters on here

I don't think RG3 is capable of being a pocket passer at a high level (not that he would ever need to unless something like this happened to negate his speed)... that elementary offense is based on his ability to run with the football; simplistic ass offense looked like shyt once that threat was gone and the "say hike, step back, and make one read" plays weren't working nearly as well as they were pre-injury
