I find this weekend funny that Marvel fans are upset Turtles beat Guardians. Like they are really mad about it. LOL.

But why tho? Like what are they gaining from it being number one or not? I understand wanting to champion good films, I really do, but you don't cry foul when a move that's already made over 100 million gets knocked off of its perch the following week. Marvel will be OK. The studio will still keep making money hand over fists

Because since THEY didn't want to see it, they assumed no one else wanted to. Kids don't exist anymore and apparently all fans on the internet can be swayed by reviews

It's impossible for Michael Bay to flop. Unfortunately. :sadcam:

I usually just dismiss his sequels which are always horrendous. He is no Steven Spielberg and I am fine with that :manny:

I just let him cook. He makes some stuff I see and some stuff I won't. That's the power of choice. I'm not going to crucify the man because obviously other people are really into what he does. Every person isn't into the Coens, or Spike Jonze or PT Anderson. That's the beauty of film: there is something for everybody and if you don't like it just don't see it

Well if Guardians would beat Turtles than it would of been the run away hit of the summer but Bay put a stop to that now the numbers will fall in line with most of the summer. It still having an amazing run but it's like they wanted Guardians to be #1 all month.

Theyve been going to it 4-5 times each trying to get it number 1 again

LOL, Nope, Turtles really took some wind out of Guardians sails. Turtles is about to tear it up this month. I don't think "Expendables 3" will beat Turtles.

Films have just become very front loaded these days. Theirs been less and less movies with legs. 55-60% drops in the second week have become standard.

Exactly. Things have changed. "Jurassic Park" and "E.T." were in the Theater for over 8 months. That will never happen in this era. We don't have the same attention spans and we get our entertainment from so many different sources. It's crazy. Also these films aren't selling any tickets. As good as Turtles did will it sell more tickets than the orignal or "Ooze"? I don't know. So not only are prices more but Hollywood isn't selling as many tickets as they use to. I expect tickets prices to continue to go up to make up for people not going to the theater.

And the fact that studios rarely let films breathe without releasing the next competing thing.

Thing is the summer blockbuster window keeps getting bigger and bigger. Every week for like six months theirs a big budget film coming out. Its overkill, and the movies naturally cannibalize eachother.

I also think Hollywood is getting very tired with Sequel, Reboots, Comic Book films and those Young Adult Novels. The blockbusters are getting less and less diverse. The 80's and 90's had better Blockbusters. Lucas and Spielberg created a monster when they created the Summer Blockbuster with "Jaws" and "Star Wars" but only a few can make the memorable blockbusters they have.
