No one here has ever said that though. The whole point is that went away from running for no good reason and started passing on every down and making KC's job much easier. Jimmy would've been forced to complete a couple of 3rd downs but it's different when you are actually moving the ball and chewing the clock out.
That’s not true at all
After Tarvarius Moore picked off Mahomes with 11:57 minutes left with us still up 10, the offense had a 5 play drive that went 17 yards (2 runs, 3 passes) and took 3:04 minutes off the clock. The only first down came when Jimmy hit Kittle on a 12 yarder. After that, Mostert gained 1 yard to make it 2nd and 9. Would a run have been better than a pass? Maybe, maybe not. But Jimmy passing on early downs was more likely to move the chains vs Jimmy on 3rd down when there’s no threat of the run. After he missed Deebo on 2nd and 9, that forced a 3rd and long and we couldn’t convert
After KC scored and we were only up 3 with 6:06 left, the offense had a brutal three and out (1 run, 2 passes) that took 1:03 minutes off the clock. Mostert gained 5 on 1st down to make it 2nd and 5. This is where I know a lot of y’all wanted to run it and I get it, but running on 2nd and 5 vs a stacked box to get a 1st down was no guarantee. I vividly remember Kittle had a mismatch on a washed Terrell Suggs, so they got the matchup advantage they wanted. Chris Jones just made a great play batting the ball at the line. Then came 3rd and 5 which forced a pass, and the rest is history
After we went down 24-20 with under 3 minutes, we had to go pass heavy the rest of the way (1 run, 8 passes) try to win the game and that’s where the big run/pass disparity shows (4 total runs, 13 total passes in the 4th Q). I know we’re probably gonna agree to disagree and that’s cool, but the plays were there to be had in the pass game. We just couldn’t execute
