This is Kyle's best shot to get it done.

As a Coach, Andy >>>>

But talent wise, it's not a question, we're clearly better.

But they have blatant advantages at Head Coach, QB, and Coordinator. Their defense is better overall as well.

But this is Kyle's chance to possibly get him a HOF consideration.
Yeah, it's a really weird game to set expectations to. We have the more talent but both our playcallers have shown to be bleh at best for the past month and on the other side you got to HOFs cooking.

One thing is for certain, if the defense lays an egg again, we ain't coming back a third time. A 1 score game I can see it feasible but if we let them be 14-17 points up, Reid ain't gonna give the ball with enough time on the clock to comeback from :beli:

It's 1 game, can we finally rise up to the occasion like we used to do :damn:

Yea. This team is way more experienced this time around. We were a lot younger in 2019 with some vets sprinkled in. We didn't cruise to this Super Bowl we really struggled and came from adversity. I even feel the defense went through it's ups and downs. We have a chance.
Every DC had ups and downs their first year. This is why I don't like how people trying to blame everything on Wilks. Especially when they fools act like how they forget how to tackle.

But no excuses for 2019. Youth wasn't the reason they lost. The big eared Goof Troop lost the game with his dumb play calling.

Like I said before defense needs turnovers to win games. They got them the last two weeks. They need it this week definitely. No turnovers. Niners lose. :francis:

It would be nice if they beat the dog shyt out of KC and it be like the 95 Super Bowl. But that ain't happening with the backwoods rapist calling the plays. :scust:

I mean, not even Saleh's first two years were as bad at run defense, and those squads in 17' and 18' were not as loaded as the current one.

If we let Pacheco get 100+ yards we are probably cooked no matter what.

Regarding tackling, I remember either Saleh or DeMeco starting one season with horrible tackling and they fixed it during the season. I expect Wilks to do the same :manny:

100%

They've gotten key turnovers on downs and some takeaways. Against KC we probably gonna need at least one 4th down stop and either a Pacheco fumble + recovery or Mahomes throwing a pick to get some momentum.

hmm didn’t know we were that bad against the run. Losing Huf is prob a small part of it but you’d think with Fred and Dre we’d at least be middle of the pack

Robert Saleh and DeMeco Ryan were better against the run even on their worst days.

Steve Wilks is not a thirty something defensive coordinator. He is a seasoned veteran with over 20 years of football experience. He has to take some of the blame for this poor run defense.

With that said if he has them ready and we won the Superbowl none of it will matter. But if we get ran on like we did during the playoff he deserves the fingers being pointed him. I do believe he will really work on it and come through.

Offensive strategy is not as critical as defensive.. they need to stop the run and they can't play that soft ass zone like they have been. Mahomes has been eating on short passes
I completely disagree. Only because it’s Mahomes. He will pull some plays out his ass. You have to be on point offensively because he will make a run regardless. We saw what happened the last time , he had 0tds and 2 ints with 6 minutes and change remaining . 49ers couldn’t score .

The reason we're so bad is because we play a wide 9 and play in gaps which allows our tackles or ends to get double teamed or combo blocked at an angle which makes it harder to square up on run plays. If we played straight up we'd sacrifice pass rushing but it would definitely help against the run. We're much better at stopping the run if we line the ends up at the 5 or 4 because the tackles squeeze in too. That was a change we made in the second half of the Lions game I noticed, along with Detroit just not running for some odd reason. Before, and even in the GB game, we were playing so wide we were begging the other team to zone block and that's what they did. We automatically take a lineman out of a play which is why you see Bosa doubled so much, there's usually not a tackle immediately next to him to discourage the double team. On Both of his sacks, he played in a 5 or 4 technique which basically guarantees a one on one match up or risk giving up the inside rush which is what happened on one sack where the RT let Bosa go to pickup an inside blitzer.

We've played on a wide 9 since 2019 with Saleh, which was the season we improved on run defense.

I know it's the scheme's weakness but we didn't have this kind of issues before and the few times DeMeco ran into them, they got dealt with the quickness.

This is not something that started in the playoffs either. Same with the bad tackling
