The fans who love wrestling and love watching WRESTLING matches were the ones vocal about women getting more WRESTLING time. And specifically Nattie and Naomi because nobody wanted to watch the fukking Bella's and Aksana get more wrestling time. Actually, women's wrestling fans didn't want the Bella's on TV at all so that the actual women's wrestlers would get more time. Total Divas fans who didn't watch wrestling before were not the ones clamoring for longer and more technical matches from the women on the main show/PPVs. They didn't give a fukk. They wouldn't even know what an actual women's wrestling match would look like bcus the WWE edited in some fake ass loud pops into the brief women's matches they always displayed on the show.
Total Divas was the divide between the actual wrestlers and the shytty tv models posing as wrestlers (with the exception of Naomi and Nattie). Do you not remember AJs "pipebomb" which was supposed to showcase this?
The women in NXT started and helped move forward the Divas revolution. That movement was completely born and raised in the WWEs developmental brand and those should be the only people (and AJ Lee I guess to some smaller extent) getting credit for it.

Nikka does but I don't remember Brie getting huge pops. But at the same time those pops don't translate to putting butts in seats.

Fans gave Brie a pass because she's married to Daniel Bryan but they were still ultra pro heel Sasha in 2015 during all of that Team Bad hijinks.

I bet they have more merchandise than the others too. At one point Naomi only had a tacky little ponytail. There aren't more females watching these days than before, The Bellas were just the most heavily promoted and they have cross appeal due to Total Bellas. People buying their merchandise doesn't mean they're watching their matches. They are buying it for Total Divas.
