He expanded dental care and pharmacare, implemented child care benefits, introduced carbon tax, gave more funding to provinces for transit, and had a really good pandemic policy by giving people money and increasing immunization rates.
Pretty sure he also invested more into clean drinking water on reservations then any previous PM's. But just like in America white people feel like they are losing, or have been convinced by Russian bots that politicians with no platform are better.

Yup you're right he also got that done. The hate that Trudeau is getting really stems from the convoy protests and lockdowns in 2020. Prior to that Trudeau had a good standing in Canada. Now the only province he's looked at positively is Quebec. The rest of the country hates him for issues that are mostly provincial or municipal problems, which are not in his control.

He did a lot for the people of this country. People just don't understand the 3 levels of politics here, and blame him for shyt as if he was a dictator, not a minority leader. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that the world craves maniac authoritarians, and compared to them he seems pacifictisc. He's the counter balance that's needed, but not wanted by those who think fascism will apply to everyone but themselves.

until the government (regardless of level) can truly intervene in things like real estate (which they will NOT because its the core investment in Canada), people will continue to confuse government levels and voter turnout will get worse (same ass it did in 2022 municipal election)

the Ontario Human Rights Commission even says housing is deemed a basic human right (even though it kinda isn't anymore)- Housing as a human right | Ontario Human Rights Commission. But the real estate market controls the prices. Why should nikkas care to vote if things like this are out of government hands? ...asking genuinely btw lol

You have to vote in people who will do that, or take the fight to a local level, find out who grants the permits, and start emailing them and asking them the questions you have. My local councilor is Brad Bradford. If I wanted to I'd go right into his office and make some noise.

say word you East York? lol

i feel you though. My issue is zoning laws and permits. Folks along the green belt or even out in bumfukk (newmarket, Orilla etc.) complain about building condos and apartments for dumb reasons. To get something built, you gotta fight against the old white lady who doesn't want a building near her sub division cause it will "cause a longer wait time at the Tim Hortons nearby" :francis:

I hate seeing rent protected older buildings being torn down for condos that won't have any rental protection. That's some absolute bullshyt.

Yeah I was born in East York. Grew up in Scarborough, and then came back around 2009ish to the Danforth. Now I'm at Main and Kingston. Moving over the bridge made a world of change. The houses in this area are huge. Mansions with infinity pools and shyt. Meanwhile a 5 min walk north is all opiod addicts.

Of course we can but I don’t see how you think that’s unskilled labor.
It’s a skill, but not a skill we need to scan the globe for. That wasn’t conveyed very well but we don’t need to be importing folks to work in those roles by the 6/7 figures

You're wrong, dental care and pharmacare were brought by the NDP and he was forced to implement it to continue their backing.

Conservative government brought in the UCCB - Universal Canada child benefit, all he did is rename and increase the monthly payout

Any federal government will give more to provinces for transit

Lol good pandemic policy? That ish was horrible. Did you forget the draconian laws that canada had and how we were in lockdown longer than any other first world country? Did you forget the protests? The people having thier bank accounts locked, the emergency act being used? People losing thier jobs for not being vaccinated? No stimulus package like in teh US

increasing immunization rates? You were literally forced or would lose your job and could not even leave the country

Older buildings are the goat, they were built strong and they have much more space than these cookier cutter condos, Plus like you mentioned rent control and usually they are owned by a management company so the risk of being evicted is pretty much slim.

These new condos have the flashy concierge, pool, gym and glass all around but they are built like crap tiny little boxes and when you gotta come up out of nowehre with like 10-15 grand and plus when the reserve fund is low and they gotta replace this and that. No rent control for new budlings and even if its rent control the owner can drop a n12 i think its called and evict you for personal use
