What happened to Dushane’s brother and why Dushane’s brother doesn’t fukk with him.

Zeroing in on this one, for example, tweedle dee and tweedle dum will try to say "bu bu bu the writers had Dushane's brother mention that he was assaulted in his own crib" ignoring the fact that without having seen the first two seasons, one could not have known how truly desperate and fukked up Dushane was to even approach his brother like that until he said that as soon as he walked into that office. Reading context clues is not the same as seeing it unfold.

I'll add another: You couldn't understand what it meant for Dushane to be on top six years ago. Ya, context clues lets you know he was running Summerhouse, but that whole thread of him being rich yet having nothing to show for it coming back to bite him is completely lost on you. I mentioned earlier about him walking into that hipster coffee shop and what that meant to him. The lawyer chick from season 2 put his lack of ownership in his face back then. All you get from this season is a line from Dushane saying something to the effect of "I would've never thought I'd be in this position 6 years ago". I'm sorry, it don't hit close to the same.

lol says the dude who would need to have his hand held for him if he didn’t watch the first 2 seasons...no need for name-calling due to a difference of opinions...all this but “it’ll hit harder” stuff is purely subjective and not worth the debate...my initial contention w/ the dude I was disagreeing w/ is that one would not be lost to the point that it’d be unwatchable which you even agreed w/...that’s it...let’s move the conversation forward if folks are gonna be reduced to name-calling

Hand holding? It's a serialized drama, you're unquestionably missing out by skipping. This shouldn't need to be explained.

Jason just pops up, grown as fukk. You don’t even know who he is. They don’t tell you who he is or his relationship to sully. Smh
Jason pops up when Sully gets out of jail.

Gem just pops up in a later episode when Sully and Jason start selling.

nor does it need to be bcuz I’ve acknowledged that several times while explaining to you the impact of what you’re missing out on is not as crucial to enjoying/appreciating this season as you deem it...the writers HAVE to take that into consideration as they understand there will be a new audience (6 years later) that may not necessarily revisit the mini-series which you don’t seem to understand...and they did a masterful job in that respect imo

Yeah, I think Netflix would have put the series together if it was a big deal like that.

Yeah, I think Netflix would have put the series together if it was a big deal like that.

they did a great job of tying this season to the previous ones w/o alienating new viewers...so those who remember the mini-series or feel inclined to watch it beforehand will appreciate the continuity of things and those who are new to it can simply appreciate it for what it is...there’s no way to quantify if a viewer would “cry harder” over jason’s death as a result of watching the top boy mini-series or w/e the case may be...I think the writers did a great enough job of establishing their rapport in the present enough so that the viewer felt it no matter what...that’s just one example

but to your point netflix was in an awkward position w/ the 6 year gap...I honestly can’t remember if this has been done in television w/ a show taking such a long hiatus and coming back for a full season and not as a movie or a complete spinoff or reboot...they’ve even renamed the original series “top boy: summerhouse” and made this new season “top boy season 1”...they did a bang-up job of walking a real fine line in being able to present the show in a way that it appeals heavily to old/new fans

Yeah, that stroke got him in a bad way. The left arm is damn near uncontrollable. It won't stay down. He's taking those pills to control the effects, but we saw the results of him missing the pill that day. He's done.

They've been showing people getting murked all throughout the 3 seasons. For them to not show Sully murking Dris, would not make sense in this show. They wouldn't have done it off-camera and not even shown the body. They had just shown Leyton's lifeless body from the slug that hit his femoral artery, which is precisely what Lizzie warned Jamie about, and what Jamie did NOT explain to Farah.

More than likely, like Dushane did with Jaq and her sister, Sully made Dris come clean, pledge complete loyalty, and made him go get his daughter and leave town for good that night. While he betrayed them, and definitely a liability on the road, he was always their boy. He's done on the road. No need to rub it in by making his daughter an orphan, well until her moms gets out ot jail.

In that sense, both of them appeared to have grown in that aspect of decision-making over the past 5 years.

what if Shane knew sully would let dris go?

We know this didn't happen tho, cuz they showed his daughter leaving school looking all depressed talking to some older woman in the montage at the end.

There's a four year gap between seasons one and seasons two of this show...I don't see how a 6 year gap is any more awkward :skip:

damn...I thought big ben was a damn clock too lmaooooooo

*edit*

normally I don’t like to see actors out of character especially actors who are heavily locked into a role...this was kinda cool tho

I actually like to see the real life personalities. I remember being blown away when I first saw an interview of the dude who plays Chris from The Wire and seeing how nerdy and polite he was lol.
