yea, i said UK when i should have said british specifically

and many GOT accents were the actors trying to sound not as british (jon's weird accent, gillian's poor accent) in either case, like i said, it's fantasy, a genre that for some reason tends to always default to british accents. i don't want to see street shyt, and i dont like that accent on black people...get over it.

it that to say i won't watch anything with the accent, no, but i got enough on my plate to not feel compelled to jump on a brit show of this genre

that's exactly what i'm saying...except you're missing the entire point of why i don't like it coming from black folks :ld:

edit: anyway, i'm done replying to this shyt, it's derailing the convo yall are having about the show...enjoy.
Even if u saod british it still doesnt make sense because scotland is apart of britain

Both those accents you listed are british, what are you even talking about?

So youre okay with british accents on whote people but not black people

Damn thats some c00nish shyt breh

I think highly of it because it's a good show, period. :stopitslime:There's American posters in this very thread praising it just as much, so what about them? If I didn't think it was all that good, I'd say that.

The Wire had a gay dude on his own actually walking with a shotgun in broad daylight and robbing crackhouses with people dropping their drugs to him with no fuss and had whole crowds of people running from him like he was Michael Myers.

A whole gang war in The Wire was fought on the street in broad daylight.

Chris and Snoop murdered a family during the day time.

Shootings, stabbings and all types of fukkery happens in broad daylight in real life. We're talking about ignorant street kids here, not strategic hitmen like Tom Cruise in Collateral. You think gangs wait until street lights are on and the moon comes out before they commit brutal acts?

So no, it ain't closer to Power.
How you going to even compare Baltimore gang life to fukking London? Go look at the murder rate In Baltimore those years . London is nothing but knife crimes in real life

this shyt came out of nowhere with an ATG season :ohhh:

It's a shame the earlier ones were all mini seasons.

But the mini seasons wasted no time with all the filler material and subplots. The mini series were faster paced and more intense, like a movie. The the usual character development and backstory Is dealt with early. That’s one thing that I notice about UK shows - they don’t waste a lot of time with the superficial or all the political correctness b.s., who they might offend - more gritty and realistic. No exaggeration, but when I watch it feels like they’re not acting, bc the execution is flawless. I watch a lot of BBC and Acorn shows- there’s a real comparison in the quality of programs.

You can’t compare what goes down on a tv show to real life either. There’s a lot of media sensationalism and propaganda rampant in the US. And yes, I’m a black American from a major city as well - so it has nothing to do with UK bias. Just like we can’t disregard their experiences, bc we don’t live it to be able to make a personal evaluation. We can’t deny that American tv in the past years has watered down the content for commercial appeal to a demographic. I mean, look at Power- lol, show is ass past few seasons and there hasn’t been a show on the level of The Wire like The Wire since it went off the air. You have posters in here saying they can’t watch a quality Series bc of the accent or they don’t like reading subtitles -:mjlol::deadmanny: But they will continue to watch a show based on the same premise that is dumbed down to cartoonish levels.
That’s nothing but conditioning.

Wow! Just finished this season and I’m very impressed. The musicians performances were on point; Asher D, Bashy, Dave get the well done nod. However, that boy Kano... BRILLIANT! I praised him in S1 & S2 but he ascended in this season. You know someone is acting out their skin when you don’t see the person but you see the character. This is especially harder for someone coming on screen and they are known primarily for something else. Take a bow, take a bow.

Moving forward, I felt the season lacked that dirty undertone from S1 & S2 yet I still enjoyed. The tie in of other subjects is something I liked and in S3 this continued with the continued gentrification theme/local council, mental health issues (there are kids out there who behave exactly like Dave and the gang member who got dropped from the tower block. Their brains are totally FRIED), Home Office incompetence and I believe the show is hinting that Dushane is a high-functioning alcoholic.

The final scene genuinely made me say “Oh shyt!” and explained why the male nitty said something along the lines of “I’m sick of this shyt” after he got slapped up by the big fella in Fields LOOOOL.

Roll on season 4!

:obama:

This shyt is closer to power then the wire. But if you from the UK I can see why you think so highly of the show. She once again great show, but a lot of cheesy shyt. Hits with shotguns in broad daylight? Yeah show almost had a sons of anarchy fukkery but at least they were in a small city.
This is in no way comparable to Power. You can’t really describe this show as cheesy especially when 50 (Kanan) is riding a kiddie bike doing hits in broad day , half of an NYPD precinct, Marshals service and D.A.s office is murked or missing and that doesn’t trigger a federal investigation or oversight and Kendrick Lamar is playing a crackhead; the mafia is colluding with an 18 yr old street level drug dealer, while the parents of a dead daughter and her brother that contributed to her death, resume life as usual - Realism left the building a long time ago but yet this is still the number 1 draw in an American tv series . We have to hold this one b.

Agreed. People underestimate the type of underworld shyt that goes on in broad day.. Real life is wayyyyy more dramatic than fiction. A lot of people live within their comfort zones so they can’t comprehend what really goes down outside of what they haven’t experienced themselves or they base reality from what they see on tv.

Do I have to watch Top boy summer house to watch this??

Nah. I think that's why Netflix got them separated.

IMO You won't be lost starting with the new season but I recommend watching Summerhouse anyway because it's only 8 episodes, the character development of a certain character won't be as epic if you don't, and for you to notice the netflix stimulus package in production value once you catch up

My nikka Modie tho :russ: ...
I hate how they built him up throughout the season, just for him to get killed off that quick. I wish they would have kept him so he could get into hella fukkery next season. Netflix stay killin off all the good villians.
