Reason number 1) The Butchification of Female Action Leads

They are often desexualized to the point of being undesirable by anyone. Having attractive leads isn't just for the male gaze, woman appreciate beauty as well.
Male stars are often forced into rigorous workout plans in order to prepare for a role because they usually have a gratuitous shirtless scene. This isn't just to excite women. Men also appreciate a idolized build to make it believable that the hero can kick lots of ass. Fat Thor was unpopular with everyone for example. And yet we often get female leads that are 5ft nothing, 110lbs and wearing baggy coveralls that don't accentuate any curves or show any skin. literally worst of both world, not sexy or believably strong.

Reason number 2) Catering towards smaller audiences instead of mass appeal.

If you want to do a billie you stand need a large audience. The male lead movie try to appeal to as many demos as possible. Even black panther had a couple token
white guys in it. Yet female led movie seem to make a concerted effort to target a specific demo. They OD on girl power. Just because Captain Marvel is the star doesn't mean you need to have female side kicks, female villains, female directors, etc etc. Often the male character are limited to non threaten non masculine types as well. Top if off with the lack of sexual appeal in point 1 and you literally have nothing to offer the audience if it isn't female. You will never have a male co-starring a female led film that is as competant as the female lead. Like say how the wasp was in Antman.
Type of Men you see in female centric comic book project

Reason number 3) Rom Com casting instead of action flick Casting
I spoke on the desexualization, but what also hurts it is the plain jane casting for alot of these roles. woman starring in an action films used to be very Amazonian, which made them more of a presence in the action films, Red Sonia Type women, Charlize Theron, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Yeoh. These women were attractive but they were also Taller than average, (or knew martials arts for real). Now we get danty lil ladies shorter than 5'4 playing these roles
This picture can explain what i mean. Nobody would cast these two for the same type of roles. Marvel loves casting petite woman though

Reason Number 4) using your least favorite toys

Marvel and DC have lots of popular female characters. Wonder Woman is obviously at the top of the list. But not every character can headline a franchise.
Generally the characters the do the best, have a lot of source material (solo) to base films on. Spiderwoman is wayyy more popular than Madam Web, but they decided to make a Madam Web film? Storm is wayy more popular X-men leader than Mystique, yet they made her the main leader? We got a series starring Agatha Harkness and yet Kitty Pryde is treated like an Extra in most of her appearances in live action. Characters with bigger followings should still be prioritized.
What comic reader would look at this and say

nah, i'd rather watch a movie about this bytch instead?

i think you can intelligently violate these rules and have something good but today, most writing is the opposite of intelligent.
Rule number 4 is easy to violate but not really necessary to. Considering both marvel and dc have the rights to all of their characters now.
Rule number 3 i kinda suggested you can violate it as long as the tiny petite actress is also an athlete or martial artist. I can accept a 5ft nothing gymnast doing somersaults
Rule number 2 i don't see a way around. If you expecting to be successful without getting the interest of the male audience you gonna need to do a genre that woman like more than the super hero genre.
Rule number 1 only supports rule number 2. but i can see ignoring it as long as you don't ignore all the others as well.

Some are bad, but if we're being honest I think a lot of dudes are just insecure and feel offended by female characters for some reason.
But men also love other female characters though. Wonder Woman 2 is literally the only wonder woman project people hated. People loved her tv show back in the day and they loved the first movie. Second movie broke all of these rule though,
1) Made her costume less sexy,

2) Cast a frail snl comedian as a villain instead of somebody with more precense.

3) All the men went from being soldiers to being clowns

4) The main villain was a non threatening dude that nobody cares about.

Why does it matter if the woman knows actual martial arts while the dudes can take a six month boot camp and not be questioned if the action is filmed well?
I said knowing martial art is an acceptable exception for not casting women that look like they went through a 6 month bootcamp.

They don't cast 5'5 150lbs dudes to play captain america. Why cast these tiny frail ladies to play Asgardians or some shyt? They cast male actors that look the part, but not actresses

Semi related I jumped into one of the later seasons and that show is fukkin trash. You can add dialogue as another reason

Girl 13 yo: What do you think will happen?

Boy 13 yo:………Armageddon

Dialogue today is so fukkin corny and how people react in situations are unreal it just doesn’t connect with the audience anymore. Not every fukkin character is Iron-Man or Spiderman. They don’t all need to be smart ass joke machines.

I really don't see why it matters at all how sexy her costume is :manny: hit up Pornhub or something if you're horny

That said I mostly agree with the rest.

writing will always be the #1 reason but these are some pretty solid reason for why female superheros dont perform (besides Cap Marvel 1)

I think a big problem is going for notable female characters too. Captain Marvel wasnt popular to comic fans so why make a movie for her instead of big apperances across the MCU?

Same reason they try to make the male actors look hot for the ladies. They not casting fat brehs to play any of these roles. Clearly it matters to someone

But there’s a variety in male hero casting.

Not everyone is 6’2. Robert Downey or Tobey wasn’t knocked out for being 5’8 and not able to take a punch.

And none of them are in superhero shape except Garfield and Holland to do most of the non-CGI action aspects of the role.

I mentioned that. Not playing with the favored toys. Captain marvel biggest claim to fame before joining the MCU was losing her powers to a more popular character. Rogue

:yeshrug: The character doesn’t have to be a A listed character. For people to be interested does it help yeah. But marvel has turned lesser known characters into household names.
