Tony Stewart kills driver on local race track Updated: Sunday, August 10 2014, 03:52 AM EDT Canandaigua, N.Y. - The driver hit by NASCAR superstar Tony Stewart in Canandaigua Saturday night has died, according to Ontario County Sheriff Phil Povero. The crash, which took place around 10:30pm Saturday at Canandaigua Motorsports Park, forced officials to suspend the evening's races. Stewart, who has long been known for having issues regarding his temper, hit another driver who had gotten out of their car. The driver was dead on arrival to FF Thompson Hospital. Sheriff Povero said his parents were in the crowd watching Saturday night when the crash occurred. 13WHAM News has a crew at the scene and will have team coverage Sunday at 6 and 11pm.
