Why does this stable keep fighting each other

:russ:
This is the important question. With Hobbs, Takeshyta, Ospreay, & Silly Hair, the Callis Family could be booked as a faction full of killers. Actually, that group could be what the Midcard Mafia was supposed to be, or even a United Colors of Benetton version of The Hurt Business.
They should be the dominant heel faction that AEW needs.
Instead, they're all just taking turns wrestling Ospreay in 15 minute matches without rhyme, reason, or logic. After Ospreay runs the table (which he undoubtedly will), what's the endgame? What storyline will be advanced? Who, other than Ospreay will get elevated?
Even if the end result is the Callis Family turning on Ospreay, it won't matter since Will has already beaten each of them. That would be as pointless as the MAGA Bucks trying to jump CM Punk again.

Meltzer making it his life’s mission to defend AEW is WILD and mind boggling in real time 😭. He called the Dynamite number EXCELLENT because it was 2nd behind the NBA.

He then doubled down and said Rampage is in the top 10 every single week, which is also good 😭😭

that's the new pivot from the AEW defense squad. It used to be all about the key demo because that was what AEW was closest to WWE in, but once that gap became big now it's all about "Oh it was #3 on the night!"

It wasn't an excellent number at all, it was very mid. The problem is nobody including Meltzer OR the posters in this thread want to be truthful about their positions. People would rather stooge than have real conversations.

It's likely that Warner Bros. is satisfied with the number because while AEW hasn't grown at all, it's holding on in the 18-49 demo whereas many other shows on TV are falling off quicker as cable cutting roars on. And that's really the only thing that matters, is WB (or someone else) going to give AEW a good deal.

How is that the only thing that matters? We're supposed to throw a party for them for simply existing? They are still gonna be competing with WWE no matter what their new TV deal ends up being

all this "Well this will all end when Raw moves to Netflix" or "When AEW signs their new TV deal, nobody can talk ratings anymore" talk online is silly, there will still be comparison points between the two companies

Who said you are supposed to throw a party? It doesn't mean the company is doing great but you yourself spend all day long talking about financials of a company that is run by a billionaire who doesn't care whether they are profitable right now or not. He has said himself that he could spend as much money as he wants on this shyt for 10 years.

I know that bothers people because every time someone says it they move on to something else but it's the actual truth of the matter.. this is a TOY for Khan, he said that as long as they get their TV deal increase they are good so what else are we supposed to be looking at? Why does anything else matter?

Also, if you haven't noticed, the RAW ratings have not increased during WrestleMania season. There's a reason for that and it's not what you might think. The WWE is actually hotter than they've been in several years by every other metric. Attendance is through the roof.

So why is it that ratings haven't gone up? It's simple. People are cutting cable at a rapid pace. People will watch RAW later on, on Hulu or they'll just go on Twitter and watch all of the highlights of what happened or on YouTube, etc.. they follow the product in other ways.

RAW ratings haven't increased yet they are still damn near #1 on cable every Monday in the 18-49 and that's because nothing else is sustaining their viewers.

Yes, by marks who have nothing better to do. Nobody else will care. It doesn't matter what RAW does on Netflix, the deal is locked in for 5 years and they will be making a killing. Netflix doesn't even release actual numbers so nobody will know how it's doing..

For AEW, if they do get their TV rights increase and an extension, are people really going to sit around and debate for 5 years every single week about whether 800k is a good number or 700k is an awful number? You're right, some marks will but everyone else will move on the other shyt

You know damn well that Dynamite card from earlier this week was a weak one, anybody could've looked at that and figured a 20 min Shibata match and two tag team matches for a tournament nobody cares about would be a dud in the ratings, and it was. It's relevant discussion to say the way they are doing things right now ain't it, and the middling attendance and TV ratings reflect that.

The ratings/attendance talk isn't just about how they compare to WWE but also whether they are pushing the right people or are booking effective enough storylines.
