Yeah, because it makes no sense whatsoever that some should be saved while other innocents starve and die. It throws a wrench in the entire view of God's supposed mercy and kindness.

Congratulations on your good luck, though.

Everything on earth has its own time and its own season. There is a time for birth and death, planting and reaping, for killing and healing, destroying and building, for crying and laughing, weeping and dancing, for throwing stones and gathering stones, embracing and parting. There is a time for finding and losing, keeping and giving, for tearing and sewing, listening and speaking. There is also a time for love and hate, for war and peace.

Ecclesiastes 3 1-8

I'm kind of agreeing that this thread might be better in TLR.

OP posted a thread about religion but clearly has no interest in actually discussing or debating his views (and whether they're logical) and seemingly just wants everybody to come in and say "God is Good " and c/s him. Meanwhile other people will come in and pointlessly try to debate someone who isn't open to it and whose response to everything will just be "well that's my faith/opinion" anyway.

I'd agree with the people saying this thread would be better for TLR. Not because it's a religious thread (a thread actually debating the merits of prayer could be interesting) but because no actual discussion/debate will happen. I guess I just don't see the point of posting a "this is my opinion" thread in HL if you're not really interested in supporting it. Just my two cent. :yeshrug:

No its not a silly thing to say. Evil is of this world and has power in this would. If you think believing in God means the belief of only good you are mistaken

Yeah, but many of you christians give more power to the devil/evil than you do to god. "The devil is tempting me, the devil made me lose my job, the devil made me sick, the devil, devil devil...."

I used to believe the world was evil too and I saw it that way.....but when I stopped believing that, I stopped seeing it that way.

Ok, but if you're using this to justify God ignoring some innocents while saving others, then you're basically admitting that God (and thus life) is not rational, and praying won't guarantee a particular outcome- which is just what nonreligious people believe.

Many do believe that but I don't. I don't think the world is evil but I do think there is evil in this world and God isn't to blame for the deeds of Evil

How can you say there is some grand plan from god but then turn around and pray for things? Its very arrogant to think a supreme being would change its plan and clear traffic so you can get to a job interview. stop it.

I can't justify anything God does its not for me to do so. but I don't think everything that goes wrong in this world is because God chose to turn his back. Everything happens for a reason and yes it is all part of Gods plan but the Devil works everyday and every minute to manipulate and twist that plan. Evil has power in this world also

but your own bible says "satan is the god of this world"..... so wouldnt that make the world evil? Isn't that why you need to be saved from "sin"? Because you are born in this evil world?

but I do think there is evil in this world and God isn't to blame for the deeds of Evil

......but in the bible god says "I create both good and evil"

Have you read this?

Good shyt man! I been there before where i felt like i would never get a real job n its a tough place to be in. I'm genuinely happy for u, u should celebrate. However, u really think a magic man int he sky had a divine intervention and decided to take time out of his busy schedule to clear up some traffic for u on i91 so u could make ur job interview? N was generous enough to bless u twice by giving u a second job offer? Or maybe u got lucky and was able to beat the traffic in time and are probably also a good candidate for the job u applied for. Maybe u should thank yourself once in a while, u did that not anybody or anything else...isn't that more gratifying?

So not everything that goes wrong is because God chose to turn his back. In other words, some things go wrong because God wants them to. So we're back where we started, breh. God must be irrational, or there's no point in praying at all.

Went back and read all the post, something interesting keeps coming up in the thread, people are saying "if your God is real then why didn't he save (insert person or group) from (insert tragedy)"

Maybe that was "his" way of saving them, by taking them from this world.

You should pray and ask these questions. Start going to a good bible basted non denominational church and ask these questions. I really don't have the answers for you man. I'm trying to express what I feel about the Lord. It might be wrong to you guys and I'm trying to be open minded to your arguments but it seems like you guys are just trying to bash prayer and not try and understand it at all
