this dude sounds like a christian version of slaimon :wow:

even using the same phrases in multiple posts "you should read the bible" and the "sunshine and rainbows" spiel :heh: :ooh:

this dude literally doesn't have the brainpower to manufacture different ways of conveying thoughts :russ:

Your insulting me for not speaking the way you think I should speak but I'm the ignorant one?

Study of the Therapeutic Effects of Intercessory ... [Am Heart J. 2006] - PubMed - NCBI

In the 2 groups uncertain about receiving intercessory prayer, complications occurred in 52% (315/604) of patients who received intercessory prayer versus 51% (304/597) of those who did not (relative risk 1.02, 95% CI 0.92-1.15). Complications occurred in 59% (352/601) of patients certain of receiving intercessory prayer compared with the 52% (315/604) of those uncertain of receiving intercessory prayer (relative risk 1.14, 95% CI 1.02-1.28). Major events and 30-day mortality were similar across the 3 groups.
CONCLUSIONS:

Intercessory prayer itself had no effect on complication-free recovery from CABG, but certainty of receiving intercessory prayer was associated with a higher incidence of complications.

some things are beyond any amount of prayer or positive thinking.

Question and spite the Lord? For being in a concentration camp and pleading for God's help without answer? As children are being burned or gassed daily?

But hey, "he" got you a job.

That doesn't sound silly to you? Not even a little bit?

Look around today. Do you really feel the Lord didn't answer their prayers?

I understand that I'm blessed everyday for the way I live and that many suffer for the things I take for granite. I also thank the Lord for my blessings why is that such a bad thing and why do I have to turn my back on God because there is evil in the world

You don't have to turn your back on God, but that is precisely what you are doing if you are saying with 100% assurance that he answers a prayer to get you a job while neglecting dying children. How is that a positive trait for a being that is supposed to be the final say on the concept of good and evil?

While on he subject, logic(which is the brain doing it's job) has to ask, "Where was God(any of them) when thouands of Japanese ppl are killed in a tsunami, or thousands of multipel faith ppl are killed in the Twin Towers, or 6 freakin MILLION Jews were tortured and murdered in the Holocaust, or for hundreds of years while the black race was largely wiped out due to slavery.

People just ignore these things in a sense b/c time wipes away the severity.

If one of these gods was real, wouldnt he make himself known during 9/11 and be like, "Yo, uh, you might wanna come over here if you want some help....somethings going down but we gon be alright over here" LOL

What's more important, getting one person to a job interview on time, or saving 6 million jews(his chosen people) from mass destruction.

I had to come to these realizations as fact. The reality is, we're our own god in sense. We humans can make this world hell or we can make it heaven.

@sicc2def

Imagine how many generations of black slaves went by hoping and praying their HORRIBLE life would change.

Great-great-great grand parents, to great-great grand parents, to great grandparents, to grandparents on down the line to innocent children.

Where was the Lord then? Hundreds of years, hundreds of thousands of slaves died.

Sure eventually they were free'd....but still to this day black folks suffer from the effects of slavery. So it's not even a case of "the ends justifies the means"

I'm not mocking the religion b/c I was in it for a long time and I believed and obeyed it.

But you have to be logical. Your brain has that ability for a reason .

No, I don't.

That's a silly thing to say when thousands upon thousands of children were burned alive or gassed.

No its not a silly thing to say. Evil is of this world and has power in this would. If you think believing in God means the belief of only good you are mistaken

Same here. Thomas Paine said it best:

I believe in the equality of man; and I believe that religious duties consist in doing justice, loving mercy, and endeavoring to make our fellow-creatures happy.

But, lest it should be supposed that I believe in many other things in addition to these, I shall, in the progress of this work, declare the things I do not believe, and my reasons for not believing them.

I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish church, by the Roman church, by the Greek church, by the Turkish church, by the Protestant church, nor by any church that I know of. My own mind is my own church.

All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit.

I do not mean by this declaration to condemn those who believe otherwise; they have the same right to their belief as I have to mine. But it is necessary to the happiness of man, that he be mentally faithful to himself. Infidelity does not consist in believing, or in disbelieving; it consists in professing to believe what he does not believe.

You guys are stuck on how many children have died but never say anything about how many people the Lord had saved from starvation and death.

Yeah, because it makes no sense whatsoever that some should be saved while other innocents starve and die. It throws a wrench in the entire view of God's supposed mercy and kindness.

Congratulations on your good luck, though.

Yeshua’s Kingdom….BX here on Earth
About a month ago I was let go from my job and I've been having a really difficult time finding employment. Last night I got a call from a job and set up an interview. On the way to the interview there was heavy traffic and if anyone knows about the 91 in So.Cal they know the traffic is unforgiving bumper to bumper and I was know doubt going to be late to my interveiw. Instead of getting upset I relaxed and said a calm prayer to the Lord. Not to get me out of traffic but to help me follow the path he has laid out for me and to give me the courage to follow it.

About 15min later I was clear from traffic and was able to make it to my interview early. I aced it and was offered a position later that day. I also got a job offer from another business I applied for weeks ago.

By the grase of God not only did he answer my prayers but he gave me an option to pick wich job I want to be employed by. I started today with nothing on my plate and ended it with two plates to pick from. I know we have a lot of people that make fun of Christianity on this forum but I wanted to share an instance when I felt the Lord was working for me and answered a prayer.

Just wanted to share. all comments welcome.
