I ain't never had no shyt like that happen. Usually a nikka get stiff in the car on the ride home but nah - it happened while I was on the court. nikka started moving like Air Gordon, I had to call it quits lol. We play 11 minute games or the first team to 11 :sadcam:

@Daniel. In pickup (even in organized games) most people ain’t rotating on defense after the blow by on the perimeter going into the mid range pull up unless it’s game point (especially if you’re playing full on a regulation court). All you have to do is have a consistent splash from there and if you can beat your man from behind the arc , usually no one is rotating and if they do it’s lazy :mjlol:

Even better if your teammates recognize you’re splash mode from midrange and can help create space for you . You can always tell who played more years of organized ball not so much by what they do WITH the ball in their hands , but by what they do OFF the ball.

I'm 27 I was never really athletic and I have osgood schlatter in my right knee but the game is simpler now, I don't do too much and I'm more fundamental

Question though, what's some good ball kicks to play in or your most comfortable and sturdy ones you recommend. I love Kobe's but the prices raised crazy due to his death smh

I'm 44 and still play with people half my age. I've never been to athletic. I just work hard. We stopped playing for a few months when Covid first hit then we got back on the court in May of last year. We usually play full court 3 times a week for about 2 or 3 hours. My body is not what it used to be. I can still move and have energy, but my body doesn't always agree with me. My knees used to be a big problem for me, but I bought me a vibrating platform and since then my knees feel refreshed and they no longer hurt. I've never been much of a jumper. My shot has gotten better with age. I make plays because people look at me and don't expect me to do much then get surprised when I'm out hustling everyone.

I'll play ball until I can't anymore or if I know I'm not holding up my end. I don't want to be the old guy on the court that everyone looks at and says why the fukk you even playing. It's my favorite sport and form of exercise. As long as I can keep up with the group I play with then I'll keep playing, but I'm not going to lie. My body always hurts after we've played. I usually walk a little slower the day after we play.

Hooped with some folks on Father’s Day weekend. Life’s been busy (work, deployments, etc.) so I haven’t been on a court since college (10 years ago). Didn’t stretch before I went out there. Only planned to put up a few shots then chill and leave them to it. I must of messed around and found my shot and decided to stay out there…started feeling good, running all over the court, snagging rebounds, making assists, etc. Before I knew it, 3 hours had passed. Ate with my peoples, had some drinks after…thought nothing of it.

Next day…I had to be back at work. Tried to go upstairs to my office and bruh…my knees let me HAVE it. Felt like I was on stilts. For the next 2 days traveling up steps felt like :flabbynsick::mjcry:

@jerniebert they have leagues for every age group once you touch 30. You can literally play with peers for as long as your body will allow. I’ve even seen a 60+ league :heh:

Oh I know, but the challenge is keeping up with the youngsters. I'm not saying I'm anything special, but not many people my age or older play at the level I like to play at. For the most part I still keep up with the guys I play with now. I still get up and down the court. I never lag on defense even if the guy is out in front of me. I've gone out to play ball with older guys and it's not the same. I still play Rec League ball. I'm hoping I still have about 5 years left before I have to look into the old man leagues, but for now I like the challenge. Keeps me feeling young. I try to make sure I keep my body in shape even though I'm old.

My IQ is way better still have quickness and old man strength. Biggest thing for us old heads is they losing weight cuts down injuries. I went gluten free and my joints feel 1000x better and find +35 yr olds to play. Don t play HS and college age kids. I have a crew that plays lunch tome bball at 12noon before covid and its the part of my week.:blessed:

Eh … I know of some Y leagues with 40-50 year olds who cook . You might not be tappin in to the right places .

and soooo many high schoolers lag on defense lol … they probably lag more (part lazy and part because the athleticism is still peaking so they can hedge and lag and still decently contest a shot if they want to) in my experience . They just wanna get their shyt off on the offensive end . It’s the flattop coalition that really tries to consistently lock in on defense with something to prove :heh: … again from my experience …

Offense isn’t the issue as you age as long as you can maintain hitting an open jumper…it’s playing consistent defense and trying to play at a high level both ways that damn near saps the lifeblood outta you . :mjlol:

It’s tough to find consistently top tier NBA two way players , so finding that shyt in pickup runs is damn near unheard of lol

But yeah, I know of “organized” weekend runs where younger players go to play with older players because the older players are out there cookin …

But I’m in NC … hoop is what we do . Leagues everywhere and some with a commingling of ages based on professed skill level .

When I was in high school I played against college hooopers as well … when in college I played with late 20s and 30 somethings as well … if you were serious about leveling up , you’d play against older heads . Our coach made us scrimmage older guys :mjlol:

It's not a big hoop area here. People play but not on the level you are describing. Most of the good players in the area are younger guys. Most everyone I play with is under 30. Around here older guys are lazy and don't really ball like that. It's hard to find a consistent group of good players. It's hard just to find indoor hoops here that aren't tried to the Parks Division or a Church. There's not even any Gyms in the area that have indoor hoops.

Gotchu. Yeah I think location really does matter in so many things … and hoop competition isn’t excluded from that .
