It's very hard to explain to people that yes, personal responsibility does have an impact on the quality of their lives, but at the same time, there are other economic and political forces at play (often more difficult to see plainly) that make it impossible (or at the very least, INCREDIBLY difficult) to dig themselves out of their current social and economic status.
It's like trying to explain to your average poor person that Walmart coming to your town is actually a bad thing.

Co-sign..Honestly, I think it comes from outright laziness. In my line of work, I have to visit many poor people homes. The one thing I find interesting is that their home would be dirty from a lack of cleaning. I mean if ppl are too lazy to even clean up then I wouldn't expect them to go all out and do what they really need to do

I don't deny the invisible forces, strain theories and every other ingredient in the recipe of our failures. I do however require lazy people and the ambulance chasers who support their nonsense to stop trying to insult my intelligence. While it is a task to dig out of a whole....how many people willing stumbled in that hole and brought their next generation along with them? Responsibility time.
Very serious. Its time for a new way of thinking. If we want to advance further, we must accept that some aren't and never will be prepared mentally to go along for the ride.
And that's the school of thinking that allows a 1% to control 99% of the wealth. Smaller income disparity = better quality of life. It's highly correlative beyond any doubt.
I'm glad u think that everyone that is poor is lazy. Most poor people work harder than i do... there are poor people who come to work everyday.. i don't even work every day..... your views are simplistic.
They aren't thinking of the benefits, consequences, etc when they get pregnant at a young age. Most of the time results like drug use, drug selling, prostitution, violence, family violence, ghetto mentality, and child abandonment are simply symptoms of the real issues.
In this case the food stamps aren't the real issue.......... they are something that is necessary; unless of course u believe random 6 year old should be responsible for feeding siblings due to mistakes of adults???
And FYI the bottom classes of every population on Earth are ignorance about personal responsibility, finance, and keys to the success of their children., shyts set up to keep it that way. - it's not just a black american issue - Blacks situation is only unique because By Far we were placed into the position and have a much larger hole to climb out .... we just started making moves in the 70's breh... How do u expect America to be a black Dream land in 5 min of fixing 1600's - 1960's???????
The gap between the richest and the poorest in this country (and several others) is growing more and more every day.
For someone to argue that the reason for this is simply that people are lazy is a gross misinterpretation of the facts.
That's really the gist of what I'm trying to say.
I am not saying that's what you are saying. I just wanted to be clear about my view.

Can a gun not be used to end and preserve life? That philosophy can serve good or bad depending on your end game. You presented a example with ill intent, I presented one with positive intent. Its shades of grey, not black and white.
Irresponsible men and women who produce more offspring than they can reasonably manage, criminals, lowlifes etc should be eradicated so they can't serve as a negative influence to the future generations. Save those who want to be saved.

I glad you don't have very good reading comprehension skills. I never called all poor people lazy. I grew up in poor, several generations deep in poverty to be precise. I'm still not where i'd like to be. The poor people who do work do work hard, but a lot of poor people don't even work. A lot of them really don't want to work either. I know this because I am a former poor person who witnessed it. I am now a working class person who still sees it. My views are from experience.
I also never said that the state shouldn't be responsible for its vulnerable citizens. A teen care taking for younger siblings is a completely different thing from a slob woman who continues to let drug dealers impregnate her is another. We have to separate the two instead of lumping them together as equal victims. One is a victim, the other is a slob.
We as a people are removed enough from those times that we can do better. Much of our self harm is self inflicted and done in ignorant bliss. We have the know how, but not the drive. Our women will spend hundreds on temporary hair....wont spend a dime to make money off of it. Our men will collect sneakers they don't need, but learn what a stock is or invest in anything that takes time to grow. I mostly blame rap music and its poisonous messages for the last two.
