Come to think about it....The WWE has only had 1 black/african american world champion since it was founded 1979. Thats very sad. The WWE is probably the least progressive wrestling company in the world. It took a once in a lifetime generational talent like The Rock to finally end that cycle. Growing up as a kid who loved wrestling it felt good seeing someone who was the same color as me, that act like me was the world champion. I didn't even know it was possible for that kinda thing to happen. I was too young to witness Ron Simmons's historic champion win in WCW but I'm sure the old heads had the same feeling I did then.

Its not like there haven't been any talented black wrestlers since. Instead of giving them a chance to be the top dog, they reinforce the same ole stereotypes that keeps them limited from becoming something more. If your a great all-around performer like Booker T or a human wrecking machine like Mark Henry, you only get to hold 2nd tier world championships. You turn R Truth from being a great heel to a babbling fool who runs out to the ring and sets up ladders for no reason. You make The New Day a smiling overjoyed church group that jumps around and clap their hands (I like the New Day and its amazing what they done with that shytty gimmick) but it was a far cry from what they were originally was supposed to be.

And Titus O'neal who isn't the most talented wrestler, but has a ton of charisma that could land him a job somewhere in Hollywood. I actually feel that he wasn't pushed enough. If the fukking Miz, Jack Swagger, Sheamus, Roman Reigns can be the WWE champion, why can't Titus O'Neal? You might say he isn't that great in the ring but are any of those guys? Fact of the matter is, the WWE push whoever they want to push. Daniel Bryan was able to breakthrough and force Vince's hand to finally give him the run with the title he deserved. I don't see a black wrestler becoming a wwe champion any time soon and I know it shouldn't matter since its not actually real but the racism in the company is apparent. I don't know how the black wrestlers or any other minorities in that company are able to deal with the bullshyt without going ADR and whooping some ass.

Now we can shift into this topic if amateur hour is over... this is something worth real conversation.

I'm split both ways on this topic.

I think there are some who genuinely deserved it and never got it- Booker, Henry, MVP... dudes like that definitely shoulda gotten it. I feel like Lashley was on his way to it as well, especially since Vince even did a storyline with him that got him further over, and he took part in a money-drawing angle for Mania. MVP, to me, was a total package talent- that finishing move had to go, but that's about it... I think it was BS that all it took was a dikk joke for his whole push to get stopped. At the very least, even if he didn't win the belt, I think he could've been a top of the card guy and hanging with the main eventers. He coulda easily worked feuds with people like Cena, Orton, Michaels, etc. Henry could've took that Hall of Pain thing to the top- I think he had finally NAILED it with that gimmick, and he should've gotten that push during that time that it caught fire. He had been the big intimidating dude before, but it just wasn't as good as he was in THAT role- that was the time to elevate him.

NOW... and here's where the "STOOOOGE!" shyt comes in, I guess... I don't think a MF should get put in that position on some 'fill the quota' shyt, just for the sake of giving it to somebody black. I've seen people say Ahmed Johnson and Shelton and Truth and people like that should've been champ and that's where I just don't see it. I even saw a nikka say ZEUS :leon: I was like, nah fam. Can't agree with the Titus part either- he's been aiiight for the last four years, he's still aiiight this week. I saw Koko B Ware somewhere saying he was discriminated against and shoulda been paid for Mania III just like Hogan and Andre and them got paid... when he knows ain't nobody buy a WM ticket for his 3-minute match. I don't think it's ALWAYS discrimination or racism, sometimes they just didn't warrant THAT big of a push.

So yeah, in short, I think there are black wrestlers who should have gotten it. Not because they're black, but because they deserved it. I think if Vince just slapped it on a black wrestler for the hell of it, it would've become of those damned if you do things, and people woulda said "ah, he's just doin' that to show they're not racist". I wouldn't say WWE has done the greatest job with the black wrestlers that have been there, but I don't think it's on some Ole Anderson shyt either.

I think Titus, even if he leaves and becomes successful, will still be thankful to Vince b/c when he was in NXT he was NOT good.

Remember that "Make it a win" line? :heh: I thought he'd get voted off that week.

But he made it thru and then began improving on the mic and gaining charisma. Regardless of this issue, I don't think he'd badmouth them if he left.

And on another issue, like I said before, Vince could make his own movie stars, they have the talent in the lockerroom. But they need to hire some REAL script writers to write for WWE films. Every wrestler who plays a decent character in WWE has enough charisma to pull off a movie role.

Instead they stick to the 80's B-movie straight to VHS-action movie formula.

I don't see why Titus wouldn't be grateful, but charisma is something you have, it can't be taught. That's what he brought to the table and I never said he'd badmouth the company.

The fact that they're still pouring money into their own movies is just another example of Vince fighting contemporary culture. Making their own movie stars doesn't really solve their 'crossover' problem. They need their talent involved with entertainment etc. outside westling and mentioned in the same breath as legit stars, if they're going to be seen as part of the wider tapestry of pop culture.

End of the day, it's his money so :yeshrug:

Pro Wrestling Sheet has sources who tell him the arm-grab-heard-round-sports-entertainment was actually just Titus O'Neil trying to be a gentleman.

O'Neil reportedly told WWE management he was just trying to ensure that Stephanie McMahon walked off stage before Vince McMahon in adherence to "ladies first" etiquette. The Superstar, who was initially suspended 90 daysfor the perceived slight to the Chairman, says he understands how his gesture could be misconstrued, but insists his intent was only to be polite.

Vince is way too proud/stubborn to ever do this, but if he were to admit right now that he overreacted, he could reinstate Titus, turn this into a storyline by Monday's Raw and actually make some money.

When wrestling news that doesn't involve murders or concussions or steroids crosses over into the mainstream, it's usually good for business.

Say what you will, but everybody talkin' about how much they hate this company STILLLLLLLLLLLLLL watchin'... all I'm sayin' is be consistent.
No we aren't. You need to stop pushing this bullshyt distraction.

Absolutely no one has said the strawman argument you just invented that WWE should put the belt on random black midcarders and marginal talents to prove they're not racist. The point is that when you look at the long list of guys that HAVE won the championship, there are plenty of guys who were marginal talents that got the belt. Just so happens :comeon: in all the decades that none of em have been black.

Whether that's due to concerns about crowd reactions, or marketability, or Vince not being attracted to black men, or the remnants of old carny/whitetrash culture that remains and always has been the foundation of the WWE...the bottom line is that a clear pattern has been established and to deny it or make excuses for it is pathetic.

I don't know what the hell you're referring to with your "amateur hour" remark either, as if the original story that has sparked this topic and caught the eye of national news is not worthy of discussion, among all the other petty, insignificant shyt that is discussed ad nauseum in the world of pro wrestling?

Why so defensive, breh... you actin' like I said somethin' to you...

The "amateur hour remark" was not in reference to the original story at all. I was referring to them lame jokes on the other page.

Another thing you apparently took some kinda way, the part about the belt bein' put on dudes to prove they're not racist, was not directed at anyone's post, it was a general statement.

I also made mention of those I felt did deserve it and did not get it, and how wrong it was that they didn't get it. But I guess none of that is a talking point, right? Just the stuff you disagree with... noted.

The wrestling industry in general... ANY company in wrestling history, in fact... isn't exactly known for having a litany of black world champions. It's really not about denial or making excuses, it just is what it is. Nowhere did I say any of it was right or OK. Either way, I do feel there have definitely been people who deserved that spot, and I made that clear. So I don't really understand the argumentative, offended tone of your response, we're sayin' the same damn thing breh.

All those guys are better than Titus by a lot tho. But yeah, none are champion status. Titus gets over easily without any gimmick and never really had storylines. There's nothing ever going on with him in WWE, which is why I think he does all those charity and media events. He might not be fulfilled as a WWE performer, but it's great money. If thy won't bring it down to 30 days, we should all boycott, he's gonna miss Mania, the Raw afterwards, and the B-level ppv. They'll be nothing for him to do when he gets back because all these new guys are coming in.

Darren Young also is in the wrong career, and would do great at other things if he went back to school.

R-truth, Kane, Big Show, and Henry should bow out gracefully as well. Apollo Crews got this! Bring Shelton back to feud with AJ, Owens, and Joe.
