Come to think about it....The WWE has only had 1 black/african american world champion since it was founded 1979. Thats very sad. The WWE is probably the least progressive wrestling company in the world. It took a once in a lifetime generational talent like The Rock to finally end that cycle. Growing up as a kid who loved wrestling it felt good seeing someone who was the same color as me, that act like me was the world champion. I didn't even know it was possible for that kinda thing to happen. I was too young to witness Ron Simmons's historic champion win in WCW but I'm sure the old heads had the same feeling I did then.
Its not like there haven't been any talented black wrestlers since. Instead of giving them a chance to be the top dog, they reinforce the same ole stereotypes that keeps them limited from becoming something more. If your a great all-around performer like Booker T or a human wrecking machine like Mark Henry, you only get to hold 2nd tier world championships. You turn R Truth from being a great heel to a babbling fool who runs out to the ring and sets up ladders for no reason. You make The New Day a smiling overjoyed church group that jumps around and clap their hands (I like the New Day and its amazing what they done with that shytty gimmick) but it was a far cry from what they were originally was supposed to be.
And Titus O'neal who isn't the most talented wrestler, but has a ton of charisma that could land him a job somewhere in Hollywood. I actually feel that he wasn't pushed enough. If the fukking Miz, Jack Swagger, Sheamus, Roman Reigns can be the WWE champion, why can't Titus O'Neal? You might say he isn't that great in the ring but are any of those guys? Fact of the matter is, the WWE push whoever they want to push. Daniel Bryan was able to breakthrough and force Vince's hand to finally give him the run with the title he deserved. I don't see a black wrestler becoming a wwe champion any time soon and I know it shouldn't matter since its not actually real but the racism in the company is apparent. I don't know how the black wrestlers or any other minorities in that company are able to deal with the bullshyt without going ADR and whooping some ass.
