I usually only ask this question if the person brings up something about their job. Sometimes you have to ask because that is the only conversation a lot of people can hold. But people do this all the time in the DMV so I try to avoid it in initial conversation.

You can't tell if it's cuz they're interested in knowing more about you or it's just an income verification. That shyt is tacky to me, golddigger or not, they all get thrown in the bushes if the 2nd thing they want to know after my name is my career. And I make a decent living too

Now before I say this, let me say that I am not trying to be snarky, but I feel like the both of you did not read my post. I stated basically in more words, that this hypothetical woman has no drive. She is a cashier with no real room for job advancement and is not in school. It's almost like you guys ignored certain aspects of my post so you could prove me wrong.

if she is loyal/nice/honest has wifeable skills..maybe she makes a good mother
