Yeah, there's a lot of revisionist history going on in regards to Jake Fromm.
He had a great championship game as a true freshman. There is no way he was getting benched the next season.
Check the receipts. I've been saying Fields over fromm from day 1. Fromm had a great 2 and a half quarters against bama then we couldn't score to finish them off. We never beat a single team on the arm of Fromm. Not a single game. We were like 0-5 anytime he threw over 30 attempts.
People say "you can't bench the player who took you to the championship game" while ignoring that Chubb and Michel had 300+ yards, 6 tds and averaged like 12 yards per carry against OU. Hell, we beat Florida 42 -7 that year with him completing 4 fukking passes. He was a product of an amazing run game and defense. That is a fact. Justifying starting him simply because of our record is lazy and that's why I have beef with Kirby and 90% of Dawg Nation. We are getting top 3 recruiting classes every year. We have enough talent on the roster to go 10-2 every year with a walk on talent at QB. It's not revisionist. He was never on the same talent level as Fields and Fromm gave Kirby every opportunity to make the switch (LSU game), he just refused.
Kelly Bryant got Clemson to the playoffs but when they got Lawrence Dabo told oleboy to kick rocks. They proceed to win a ship.
Jalen hurts was a record breaking qb at bama who had led Bama to the natty (and lost just like Fromm). The next year they get Tua. He still starts every game but plays like shyt in the championship game. Saban benches him at halftime for Tua and the rest is history.
I'm tired of nikkas giving Kirby excuses for mismanaged talent especially when everytime we struggle he talks about we need more talent. Anyone with eyes knows that fields was/is a better player than Fromm from the day he stepped on campus. Giving fromm the credit for getting us to the national championship game is like giving Trent Dilfer credit for that Ravens ring. If Kirby makes that switch I guarantee UGA would have one by now. The Georgia sports curse was on full affect with this one all starting with Eason getting hurt
