Given the popular the opinion, it seems that people just don't think her music is quality. And even more so, she just doesn't really stick out much. I know she hates being labeled as the "pretty girl who can sing a little" and would rather be respected for her creativity, but if that's the case, then she has to show that creativity. I played some of her songs for my younger sisters, both in their teens, and they said "this ain't a bop, it's a no for me." The songs they DID like happened to be from her album when she's not trying to make those pop songs.
Someone said Flame "sounds like one of those songs that plays in a strip mall on a weekday afternoon." That's not a good sign.
It's not like she's not talented either, but it just seems to me that the music that she puts out just isn't what people as a whole gravitate towards. Whether her songs are done fully with the intention of wanting to become mainstream or it's RCA pushing the button, people just aren't biting. She's not doomed, but this is why being thirsty for the fame can hurt you.
Bey and Rih have incredible work ethic, you have to in order to reach the heights they're at. If she wants that same level of success, then she'll have to work for it. Just like everyone else. You don't become the top of your class by accident.
