What are you talking about breh? They dropped debut albums in the same month of the same year... both did shytty numbers. Rihanna had a massive hit in Pon De Replay which had been marketed worldwide. Rihanna was always the pop artist where they saw more appeal. She had Stargate produce her records and they marketed her worldwide. Teairra had songs by Sean Garrett. Different audiences, different ambitions.
Teairra was always just going to be a RnB artist. Her debut album's full name is actually called:
Roc-A Fella Records Presents Teairra Marí[1]
They both did 60k first week. Rihanna had a proper second single, and they kept marketing the album. They basically let Teairra fall off after the poor first week numbers. Rihanna had powerful managers from day one. Dudes that worked with Christina Aguilera and loads of other corny pop artists. She was their first artist and they produced and wrote some of her earliest hits. You don't get to be Rihanna big without a considerable push and yes it was from day one.

Yes and no....she did great with in the 90's but not so great in the 2000's besides Emancipation of Mimi. Basically like with all musicians/singers, her run was up because of changes in music. Noone can stay dominant their whole career.
