It wasn't about nudity or cursing. NBC knew that this couldn't/wouldn't get the ratings it needs its shows to get - it's way too specific and "coastal". Networks are still trying to appeal to the flyover states, so broad comedies that you, your moms, your baby sister, and grandmother can watch together as a family is what they're betting on.

The days of 30 Rocks and Parks and Recs on the 4 major networks is almost done.

Network TV is a completely different beast.

:ucku: network tv. outside of sports and local news, they are almost useless.

Man, this went to shyt so fast. At first it was 3-4 kinda weird characters living in normal-ish NY and other people around were semi normal. The moment Kimmys dad showed up was the start of every new character being super dumb, he's a retarted Ernest and nothing more. The trial arch was horrible and riddled with everbody acting stupid and that got real old real fast.

This show was very disappointing.

People going "I liked that part when..... " are missing the point. Sure the show had funny moments, but it was just as I feared. Less control for some people usually makes the whole project worse. On 30 Rock I'm sure she was kept in check by many other people, allowing her voice to shine through, but also trim the fat. This was half fat.

This was an extremely cliched show. Fish out of water, gay black man, everyone is so ~quirky~. It gets old after a while and a funny gag here or there just isn't enough to make up for all the eyeroll moments and the truly horrible story. Slightly reminiscent of Ricky Gervais's slide into garbagedom with Derek.

I'm being very harsh with it, but then again 30 Rock exists! If 30 Rock didn't exist, I'm sure I'd find it fantastic... but it exists. So watch that instead

finished the season...meh...it def had its moments but got kinda stupid once the "dad" came in...the trial was mad over the top too but it was obvious(to me at least) that they were spoofing the OJ trial with Martia Clark and Christopher Darden

semi disappointed that Tina Fey's appearance was wasted on this character and not someone they could bring in from time to time...i kinda wish she had a character like Rachel Dratch on 30 Rock where she'd just appear at times and be weird as fukk.
