Another thing that was dumb about Aliens was how Ripley just up and went back to the beacon site after knowing how the "unknown" life form got down.

It was so rushed it was just stupid. Oh I been floating in outer space for 57 years, the next thing I'm going to do is go back and see these beastly aliens get exterminated

:what:

She was having frequent nightmares she couldnt live normal w.out facing it again. It was pretty obvious why she went back u just have to watch the movie not skim thru it. And regardless if u think first alien is betr both are classics.

I didn't just skim through it, and I got that.

But it still doesn't change the fact that it was a bland generic excuse for her to want to go back as a "consultant" to see them killed off. The team didn't even listen to her until half of the crew got bodied anyway.

Team was not organized and picked for a reason. Burke made sure the leader (gorman) was not fit for the mission and the marines had no idea what they were in for. Ripley wasnt respected they thought it was just another "bug hunt". And why need such a complex reason to go back, its a sequel and an action movie, ripleys daughter was dead, she felt compelled to face her fears, blam a classic gets made!

that part was realistic, no gang of mercenaries are going to listen to some woman about her nightmares

How the fukk is Aliens winning this poll?

Alien was a tense, claustrophobic, disturbing horror.

Aliens was marines in space. The aliens in it were pretty much cannon fodder. It was still a good film, but Alien is flawless.

They don't hear you, though.

Aliens isn't a bad film, but it is a bad film compared to Alien. James Cameron will always be a hack with a few lucky hits, but the first 2 Terminator films > Aliens.

:wtf:

He directed 3 of arguably some of the best sci-fi films of all time and is one of (if not the highest?) grossing directors of all time

We all know aliens isn't a bad film nikka, thats why its winning this fukkin poll. Or will you please explain to me how Cameron was supposed to make Aliens just like the first one? He had to go in a different direction.

If you like tense, and slow paced, go with Alien. If you like action flicks go with Aliens.

Breh, sales don't equal quality. Spielberg is the same way to me- a hack with a few lucky days.

Me not really liking Aliens much is just my opinion, which is whatever, but at the same time, I think it's very difficult to argue that it's anything but a formulaic film- something which Alien definitely wasn't.

Usually, indeed it does. Usually. There are exceptions (things like Transformers, though the 1st one was decent).

If you wanna get picky most movies are formulaic, like I didn't see it coming that their entire crew was bout to be merked by an Alien?

Even if we agreed about the formulaic part that doesn't say anything about if it was a good movie or not. Aliens is STILL a CLASSIC.

Aliens - Rotten Tomatoes

there is a reason it has 100%

Why don't you go check out the meter for Alien :leostare:
