50 reign would’ve last longer if he wasn’t giving his hits to other rappers. Game, Banks, ya yo etc.

I just saying Jay had help to keep him relevant.

And 50 boxed himself into a corner early by only dealing with G-Unit artist and alienating damn near everyone else. Once he tried to reach out, shyt felt force and his style what made em hot was outdated and he never evolved

OutKast dropped the same day as hard knock life outsold HOV and they were considered hardcore hiphop at the time. End of the day jay-z never been number 1. He just talked about all the reasons he was number 1.
“Outside dmx” no nikka why don’t we talk about dmx.

why don’t we talk about dmx coming at Jay-z head and jay-z copped pleas like a bytch.
Many body else spit this at Jay-z they would have gotten bodied.
Dmx got an apology.
Hov got Ethelred and sucked the Dade with Dmx while he was dissing lil
nikkas that were in Harlem world and prodigy after prodigy had a sickle cell attac that affected his ability to defend himself.
Jay-z too 3 but fukk em.

outkast was never hardcore at any point.
and by the time they dropped aquemini.......LOL.
you really think aquemini had any type of presence in the streets??

as for this other stuff, it sounds like you just hate jay-z and youre pouring out your emotions.
no argument here on DMX. i agree that jay wanted no smoke with DMX.
youre actually giving jay too much credit. ALOT of people dissed jay and he didnt spit back. he usually hid behind state property and let them handle his dirty work. prime example is jay/jada turning into beans/jada. SMH. jay only went head-up with easy targets like prodigy and he thought Nas was an easy vic.

but i dont agree with your take on that prodigy chit.
prodigy having sickle cell is neither here no there. he aint no athlete. he simply fell off. besides, even in his prime, he wouldnt be able to see jay-z in a battle. that just wasnt prodigy's lane. plus, prodigy was the one who took it there in the first place.

...And then there was X 700K first week. 5X platinum
Dynasty Roc La Familia 550K first week. 2X platinum

"and then there was x" came out a week before volume 3.

it was old by the time the dynasty dropped.

jay dropped 3 albums before DMX released a follow-up. by that point, X wasnt even the most popular ruff ryder anymore.

hotter as in more popular? there was dmx, ja rule, eminem, juvenile, 50 cent, nelly maybe even ludacris. the argument is usually that he wasnt the hottest. but one of the biggest rappers out? for sure.

yeah, hotter and bigger are two different things

Hottest rapper out now-Lil baby

biggest rapper out now-Drake

Jay was the hottest rapper in 97

he was the biggest rapper from 99 to 03

This. Not to mention he helped put a lot of people on, which is the exact opposite of him latching on.

He really put his crew on. I mean The Dynasty album is not even really a Jay solo album. There are several songs Jay isn't even on, and only a couple Jay solo joints without features. He didn't fill that album up with a bunch of other big names to help beef up his crew.

And then as far as producers go, he could've just used whoever was hot at the time, but he built up a dope in-house crew of Kanye, Just Blaze, and Bink. And on top of that worked with the Neptunes early, and helped try to open the door for new producer like 9th Wonder when he was leaving the game.

Many of his big singles were just him.I never felt like Jay tried to ride other people's coat tails to get hot (with the exception of maybe Biggie right at the beginning :patrice:)

dynasty was never a solo album to begin with. it was really a compilation album. they ended up releasing it as a jay solo, because compilatons dont sell as much.

neptunes were already huge when jay started working with them. then theres all the songs with people like timbaland and swizz beatz. lets not act like he was on some master p/beats by the pound type chit.

and cmon man. jay was a master wave-hopper. i would say that people put too much emphasis on the biggie alliance tho. he was really riding foxy brown's coat-tails back then(even tho he was writing for her).

Jay longevity is due to him latching on to whoever was hot and getting some of their shine. From Alicia Keys to Rihanna to Wayne to Migos to Justin Timberlake to R Kelly the list goes on.
Ridiculous that you actually believe that. Like whomever he did something with didn’t equally benefit from working with Jay-Z. :childplease:
